Entercom Hands In KDND/Sacramento License

EMF would be interested, they always are. :)

As for the transition from 107.9 to 106.5, very poorly executed. Listened to 107.9 a few moments ago and heard half of a song interrupted by static and a voice about 15dB down, very hard to hear, telling listeners to change to 106.5, then static again and back to another song. Just strange.

Seems like a laptop at the transmitter site could've/would've sounded A LOT better.

Calling Jammer Dave, you out there? Or someone else more knowledgable than I.

I don't understand why KDND is doing what they're doing right now. I get why they're turning in their license but I don't understand why they're playing music interupted by static and then a faint voice sounding like it's coming through a two way radio followed by another song.

Seems like there must be a reason.

Did anyone happen to aircheck the changeover on 106.5? And planning to aircheck the sign-off of 107.9 on Wednesday?

Cumulus might be interested if they can swap something of value to Entercom for the Sacramento stations... something like KRBE.

I'm not sure which stations will CBS/Entercom be selling. Who would be interested? Cumulus or Bonneville?

I'd love for a top-notch operator like Bonneville to pick up one/more of these licenses. Cumulus is another possibility. Maybe Results or Mapleton locally would be contenders? On another thread, I mentioned the possibility of Ed Stolz trying to get back into the market. He probably has some cash left from the KWOD sale.

How much will these Class B FMs auction/sell for? $10-15M?

Again, I would bet KKDO 94.7 is definatley one of the remaining 3 they drop since it is the only B1 signal between the two groups.

The value of a full class B license on a great signal in Sacramento is too rich for the blood of Results or Mapleton. It won't sell cheap.

Don't rule out iHeart or EMF. :)

Sure, iHeart might be at the limit but they would easily dump their 93.1 signal if the got 107.9. EMF is probably willing to cough up some cash for a full class B for Air1 in Sacramento.

@Big D -- Agree, KKDO is for sure on the choping block. It would be nice to have a new (and fresh) operator in town.

It probably will not "sell" at all. Entercom has announced it wants to do like-kind trades to avoid the tax consequences.

Cumulus could likely get 94.7, 100.5 & 102.5, & either swap it for KRBE or maybe the 3 stations in Indianapolis, since Entercom owns WZPL, WNTR, & WXNT-AM. Would that be possible?

What market number is Terre Haute Indiana?

I would say that makes a BIG difference.

It's not for lack of operators who wanted the facility. The Terre Haute stations that lost their licenses had to go back to the procedure of being placed in one of the auctions (delay) and then be built (more delay).

I was listening- someone came in and did a live broadcast for the last few minutes until the transmitter went off at midnight, during NSync's "Bye Bye Bye" which they say was the first song played as "The End" in 1998. I didn't care for the format much, the prior Arrow format was OK and I listened to it a lot as K108 in the early 80s.

The staff member has a video of the shutdown on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/ckontheradio

Impressive way to sign off a station, class act!
