Sooooooooooooooooooooo...after reading the top story on
the R-I homepage where it mentions Entercom's problems:

"There are staff meetings called for this afternoon in Kansas City, Denver, Milwaukee and elsewhere, to talk about the changes."

I wonder what's happening with Entercom in this market?

Entercom's been rather quiet of late in Sacto, compared to CC,
CBS and Metro Traffic...at least on the R-I boards....

Unfortunately, for good people, cutbacks at Entercom have reared up. Full-timers being switched to part time status and job loss, as well. Seems all the stations in this market are suffering the same fate.

This according to All Access:

At ENTERCOM/SACRAMENTO, Top 40 KDND (107.9 THE END) middayer ALECIA B is out. Find her at [email protected] or (813) 766-1019. Station Mgr./PD DAN MASON will go back on the air and handle 10a-1p and MD CHRISTOPHER K will stretch from 1-6p. Word is there are more folks out at this cluster.

Anyone know who the others are?

(813)?!! That's a Tampa Bay area code! Man, if she moved from Tampa to Sacto in recent
memory, that's a major-league DRAG to have this happen to her! I hope she gets back on her feet quickly...

Not to take light on the subject, but speaking of major-league Tampa, they hit a 2-run homer
with no one out in the Top of the 1st inning - 2-to-nothing, T.B. Rays over Boston...

Pretty sure she's been there over a year... a lot of people no longer bother changing their cell numbers when they move.
 
There are budget cuts all over. I hope they use a scalpel instead of a hatchet.

On the KSSJ website, they no longer list Susan Miller as morning host. They have Mc Corkle as AM host, he had recently been doing PM drive. Did Susan leave as part of the new down-sizing, or did this happen a while ago?
 
I'd be curious as well, I've worked with Susan in the past, a class act and lots of talent.

I'm hoping that at the end of the day, we hearof no more layoffs at Entercom (or anywhere for that matter). Overall their stations have a top-quality staff that can only benefit them in the long run. Just ride out the current storm. Not knowing a lot about corporate thinking, I wonder if anyone in sales or management can answer this question: Even though we all know sales are down everywhere, are they still making a profit, albeit a smaller one? Or are they losing money? If they are still making some money, wouldn't behoove them per my previous suggestion about riding things out, and not throwing out the baby with the bathwater?

The sad thing is that cluster is making money by the truckload, but on the whole Entercom isn't faring quite so well... so even the successful clusters have to make these cuts. A fantastic game-plan, btw: let's see just how much we can squeeze out of the properties that are doing well, so we can look back next fall and wonder why those same properties are no longer as successful. What a ridiculous industry this has become.
 
Hopefully all that have been let go will bounce back rather quickly. Radio is in serious trouble and its going to get worse before it gets better. Citadel and Radio One and others stand a very good chance of going belly-up in the near future. Citadel is at.20, Sirius is at .37, Westwood One is at .19 you get the picture...SAD....

You left your money in the market? No much much sympathy here if you didn't move it to savings or money market when the market started to crash. All it took was a few clicks or a phone call.
 
Nope. When I was laid off I couldn't do anything with it, they will be contacting us for rollovers or cashouts at some point. Fortunately only a small portion is going towards Westwood stock

I just hope whenever they do that, the market will have gone up some.
 
It would be wise for you to contact an attorney about your 401K Its not their money to play with after its in your name. I would move post haste to make the call.

Just more the reason to go PRIVATE and get back to real broadcasting. F--- the stock holders and corporate pin heads

It WILL go up if people stop panicking and selling everything!
 
Yup, people freak out and it makes the market go down even more. But it always goes back up, so it may be a great time to pick up more stocks, although it probably hasn't bottomed out yet. And for those that have a lot of devalued stock, just have patience and it's value will be be restored....or at least get close
 
Unfortunately, Entercom is at it again. Trying to save payroll as they have done the past couple of years. It'll continue to happen and there's nothing that can be done about it. Programming will continue to take blame for lack of sales.
 
Dumbest thing in Radio

The "off air" PD.

It is a waste of money unless said PD is overseeing more than 1 station.

operations could save money right off the top by having on-air PD's.

If one cannot budget their time to both be on air and program, then they are wasteful and inefficient.

So, how many "off air" PD's do we have? Those folk should be worried about their jobs, all fat will be trimmed.
