Entercom says, "Leykis is no longer on air in Seattle"

I just got off the phone with 2 different people at Entercom Seattle

The first person said they just got dragged in to answer flooding phones, and (?!?!?!) I KNEW MORE THAN THEY DID!

I ended up telling THEM what has happened! They knew the Buzz went country and that was IT. Hadn't even heard about BJ yet or anything - WOW consummate professionals over there!!

So I get a second number and call into the actual Buzz (or should I say Wolf) section of the building and am told, "ENTERCOM NO LONGER CARRIES THE LEYKIS SHOW, and as far as we are aware, NO ONE ELSE IN SEATTLE IS EITHER"

Reactions?

I'm looking for online feeds of his show. What he says about this ought to be classic because he considered the Buzz one of his most important affiliates....

Well until today, the Buzz itself was the online source imho!

You can go to his site tho http://www.blowmeuptom.com and click the banner to hear him on talki when he comes on today at 3, or, there's a bittorrent site here http://www.new2me.net:6969/index.php where it's sure to end up after the fact...

Seattle and the Buzz were Tom's longest running affiliate, he had been on 10 years and it was just vaporized in a moment

I got it on KLSX 97.1 (Free FM) out of LA....

Sooo...where do you think Tom will end up now in Seattle? With his popularity locally, how could anyone turn him down?

Does anyone anticipate a local backlash against Entercom for dropping him...will he show up on KIRO? KTTH? KPTK? KKNW? KVI? KOMO? KCIS?

Tom's male popularity should be irresistable to KJR. If KRKO has even a ghost of a chance of big time Northwest success with their new 50kw flamthrower, they would be first in line and make the best offer they can....

I don't blame Entercom for a minute for withholding information about the change. Informing the people who answer the phones IS a different story, but not before the fact. Is there an industry that is more egocentric, gossipy and insecure as radio?

Did you really expect Entercom to say where Tom leykis would end up? "Hi, yes, let me help you find Mr. Leykis, one moment please." That is not shocking at all.

No I did not expect them to lead me by the nose, but I did expect at least to find an answer, and that I did...

Of course, now they're telling others he will be on KISW?

I guess you're right, AQH, they would certainly not want to tell their listeners about THAT eh?
