Entercom

Entercom has just put another one of their AM talkers on an FM. This time in Buffalo. Last week it was Kansas City. Is WXNT on 107.9 or 99.5 next?

I'd wager on 99.5 being blown up in favor of a WXNT simulcast, and not 107.9. 107.9's ratings have been going up, up, up over the last few months. Also, 99.5 is right in the middle of the FM dial - more chances of the younger demo sampling it.

Seriously folks? You're embarassing yourselves and don't even know it. Take a look at the demos and billing before you think about becoming the second FM talk station.

even though yes 95.9 is a class a Rimshotter out of Franklin. they have a news talk format. can Indy be able to handle 3 FM News Talkers in one market. yet no sportstalker on FM yet. Id See WXLW managing to get its hands on an fm somewhere or sell off to Cumulus and then cumulus might put the XLW Sports format on 93.9 if cumulus dont blow up WXLW. but i dont see Indy being able to handle 3 FM talkers

Ratings wise:
WBEN is #2 overall in its market and is by far the dominant Talk station there. Adding an FM signal (13th place in market, second place classic rock in market) supplementts them.
WXNT is #26 overall in Indy and a distant third place for Talk stations. Entercom's FM's in Indy are a respectable 7th and 10th.
WXNT stays on AM only...

They could do newstalk on fm, but it would require a big investment to upgrade WXNT. Right now 1430 is basically just a relay for nationally distributed syndication. They tend to have dead air, two audio feeds playing at once and similar problems on a semi-regular basis. They currently do have the WXNT feed on one of WZPL's hd channels, but the couple of hundred hd radio owners in the area probably find it's easier to pick up a solid signal on the am band.

I doubt, seriously, Entercom will blow up either of it's FM's in some crazed idea to challenge Emmis.

Is that really all that respectable? Wasn't WZPL in the top 3 or at least top 5 for years and years? What's happened?!
