Malloy does have a pretty devoted following, and I think late nights are the perfect time for him. I like his show, though it does get a little over the top sometimes (although that's when it seems to be the most entertaining). And he's carried in quite a few markets. In Madison, for example, listeners demanded that WXXM put him on live and drop Phil Hendrie, which they did.
CC progressive talkers tend to take either Malloy or Lionel (another great show, BTW). In more conservative markets (such as Cincinnati and San Diego) they go with Lionel. In more liberal markets (such as Madison, San Francisco, Portland) they opt for Malloy.
Springer's on in quite a few markets, and even has clearances on stations that don't air any other AAR shows (Cleveland and Sarasota, FL). Majority Report gets the short shrift, since many prog talkers air Ed Schultz live and follow with Rhodes leading into either Malloy or Lionel (or even Hendrie). MR does air on a number of stations, including some CC ones (and others delay it). I get the feeling that AAR's clearances will lack the most in morning drive. I expect that many affiliates are going to start up local shows for that shift, or try out someone like Bill Press.<P ID="signature">______________
