The Dothan radio market mourns the loss of one of our own. Stan Waters, from Enterprise,
died at his home of an apparent heart attack at the age of 45 Thursday morning. Although
Stan was no longer in radio, listeners and radio folks alike will fondly remember Stan. Stan
had a "real" job, training heros on helicopter simulators at Fort Rucker the last number of
years. He was very proud of the work he did.

Stan, who was sometimes know as Stan Powers, spent time on WIRB, WLHQ, WOOF, WESP,
WPFM in Panama City, KICKS 106 in Birmingham, to name a few. Everybody loved Stan.
Can't think of anyone who didn't. He had a smile a mile wide, a raspy smooth on air delivery
that made you think you were riding with a friend when you were listening. Stan worked with
some legendary radio folks in his day and enjoyed recounting memories from crazy radio times.
He inspired many radio rookies and loved to follow their progress. I was one of those rookies.
It was an honor to have worked with Stan Waters.

He was a friend and a hero who will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers go with his family and friends.

Stan and I have been friends since the late '70s when he worked for WIRB in Enterprise. We have remained friends over the years. I'll miss him, as well. I agree that was a great tribute and very well said. Thanks for writing it, TNM.

Here is what was in The Enterprise Ledger. There's mention of making a donation to a particular animal shelter in memory of Stan.
