Entertainment Tonight in Tampa

Newbie. Pardon the mistakes?

Noticed mention of shows um... missing? gone?

For the past week and a quarter, I've noticed the loss of ET on Channel 8 (is that WFLA? my brain is still in Boston (where it still does somersaults to figure out the NBC and CBS affil swap of 1995 or so. never had a problem with the 72 swap - but really, NBC should be 4 or a multiple thereof)

I did locate it on 8.2, but my DVR's listings have not caught up (Tribune Media thru Schedules Direct on a homemade MythTV). And then the weekend airing was on channel 8.

I wondered whether this was temp, during the Olympics, and failing that, whether there is any channel without a .x number that's airing it in Tampa Bay. My DVR doesn't do digital channels. (seriously, the tuner cards are "analog" and we don't have a cable box (Brighthouse) so we can only get digital on the TV itself, and for more fun, NBC Digital has to be typed in - I think it's 104.2608. CBS was missing for weeks and then showed up on channel 1.)

ET isn't something I watch live, so if it's not digital, that would be good.

sounds like some NBC affiliates are doing that
Here in Minneapolis ET is normally on at 6:30 on KARE 11 (right after the 6:00 news and before prime time) but since NBC has their "Olympic fireside chat" thing or whatever it is at that time KARE is showing ET on its weather 11.2 station.

But of course Tribune doesnt know that so the guide isnt updated properly

After Friday it will be back to the right spot

In Tampa Bay, ET was seen during the 7PM hour (not sure if it's 7PM or 7:30PM) on Me-TV (WFLA 8.2), with "The Doctors" also seen on that channel at 3PM, due to the Olympics. Also last week, WFLA started their new 7PM newscast on the main channel. However, it was not until this week when the schedules showed the new newscast -- it still had ET on the main channel at 7PM. And the Me-TV schedule was never changed to reflect the syndicated shows -- it still had "The Big Valley" at 3PM, while the 7PM hour last week had repeats of the 5:30 and 6PM newscasts, replaced this week with an hour of "M*A*S*H".

I was up early one morning last week (before 4am), and KARK was running ET there because of the Olympics (3:30-4:00am CT after the overnight NBC Olympic replay), followed by The Drs (4:00-5:00am). A case where a station wasn't "warehousing" a show but having few timeslots available for a limited time.

WXII, the NBC affiliate for Greensboro/Winston-Salem/High Point,
has been showing "ET" at 7 instead of the usual 7:30 during the
Olympics; "Inside Edition" normally airs at 7. Don't know if "Inside
Edition" is airing on a subchannel, but things should be back to normal
come Monday.

so today I look at the guide on my Directv AM21 and the syndicated stuff here on the local NBC (KARE 11) is on their weather subchannel 11-2 (actually shows in the guide)
1:00 Rachel Ray
2:00 Doctors
3:00 Dr Oz
6:30 ET

SInce the Olympics are done at 4 they show the news and Jeopardy on the main station

In Houston, KPRC-2 had to relocate "The Nate Berkus Show", "Ellen", "The Dr. OZ Show", and "ET" over to This-TV, Ch. 2.2-In lieu of The Olympics throughout the rest of the week. "Nate" has already been cancelled; "Ellen" will be going over to KHOU-11 to replace "The Doctors"; while "Dr. Oz" & "ET" are both staying put over at The NBC-affiliated, Washington Post Broadcasting-owned Houston station.

Dr. Phil, Anderson and Ellen [which usually air on KING/5] are on its sister station KONG/16 until the Olympics end. Inside Edition [which is being preempted so that KING 5 can have its local Olympic Zone show at 7:30] is being aired at a graveyard slot temporarily, 4:30AM on KONG.

In Alaska, KTUU and KTVF don't have any additional subchannels to dump their syndicated programs during the Olympics. But yes, they'll be back to their regular schedules on Monday.

Outside of shows like "ET" and "Inside Edition", many of these syndicated shows are in reruns in the month of August, anyhow. I don't think many viewers from Tampa to Toccoa are screaming bloody murder that they have to find "Ellen" at 4 AM for a couple of weeks. It'll be during the Winter Olympics, when many of these shows are currently in production, that the time-shifting will really get interesting.
