Entravision buying Tampa and Orlando Stations

Looks like Entravision is set to announce the purchase of Mega Communication's two AM Tampa stations. Based on a report in the Orlando Spanish daily newspaper CA based Entravision is buying WNUE 98.1 in Orlando and possibly also interested in 760 and 820 in Tampa. In a recent conference call their President said they are looking to sell its outdoor business and concentrate on its radio and TV markets. In Tampa and Orlando Entravision operates the Univision and Telefutura TV stations.

I wonder if they keep Mega's current Spanish formats or change to one of their own?

They might put Tricolor on the regional Mexican station, but Entravision has no formats for non-Mexican listeners.

WMGG AM 820 can't get any worse than it is.

"Mega Clasica"... :-\

They need a pure tropical format...and I don't mean regueton. Play old and new salsa, merengue, bachata. Get rid of the baladas.

Isn't WMGG playing old salsa music due to WYUU playing new salsa music? What else could WMGG do? Play the same as an FM and get lose badly?

Theere is not much if any good new tropical music. The format is pretty much 35+, and even in Puerto Rico there is now only one significat station doing salsa... and it is classic salsa, not current based.

Artists like NKlave, Elvis Crespo, Grupo Mania, and La Makina (and others who escape me at the moment) have put out new releases the last few years.

Elvis Crespo has not had a hit in a decade... the others are pretty much over, too.
