Entry-level production library question

I am a voiceover talent that is currently attempting to get my own
production facility off the ground. My background as a musician and
composer, as well as some of my sample and loop libraries has helped
me immensely as far as being able to produce my own musical beds. I All
I am looking to do right now is 15-30 sec radio and TV spots, some promos,
and some voiceover demo production on the side.

While the "roll your own" approach to producing beds is cool, I would like
to somehow minimize the time and effort by having some "go to" production
libraries available that would eliminate the need for me to start from
scratch with every project.

My question is: (and forgive the question if it sounds idiotic to the pros)
Is there some sort of entry-level (cheap, hopefully) production library out
there that sort of covers the "basics" as far as sound FX, different types
and genres of musical beds. I guess you could call it the "starter kit"

thanks in advance for your time

check out: sound-ideas.com
danoday.com and TMCentury as well. Their older libraries can be had at a nice price.

I bought Mega Music from TM (over 150 CD's) for 450.00..Much of this music is great..BUT some of those cuts do sound dated..

Consider this..You really only want a full blown library for spot music right? Why not buy it by the cut? www.musicbakery.com has AWESOME music tracks timed out and ready to go that you can preview online, buy and download as you need them..much cheaper that way and you have instant access to thousands and thousands of really good tracks.

You can do the same with Sound Idea's music tracks and the full Sound Ideas sound effects library at www.sounddogs.com I had a client that needed the "sounds" of a carnival arcade..I found it at Sound Dogs..bought it, downloaded it in 2 min and it cost a whopping 1.45. You can pre-pay there on your account and get stuff quick without spending a lot. They also have some neat cheapo specials like a discfull of sound effects for 12.95 etc. It's a great deal.
Edited by jefflaurence on 03/14/06 01:51 AM.

> You also may want to try radio-mall.com. I have dealt with them in the past and feel I got good value for the money. He has buyout production music, and as I recall, in the past (been a while since I ordered) had a 30-day guarantee.
