Enzyte Commercials On Comedy Central

I thought that the Feds had shut down Enzyte and its fake impotence "cure"...but a day or two ago, I saw one of those 'Smilin' Bob' spots on Comedy Central. What gives? Did they appeal or something?

These quack medicines (uh...excuse me, "supplements") have become a staple of TV and radio advertising.

More typical are the products that promise to help you lose weight without diet and exercise by"burning" fat. I guess government regulators are so over worked that they can't deal with this kind of thing. Occasionally the really high profile quacks get caught (like Metabolife), but it doesn't happen often.

They make the products more attractive by offering to refund your money if you're not satisfied. I assume this works due to human psychology - most people just pour the junk down the toilet when they're fed up, and don't take the time to ask for their money back, especially if it involves returning the empty bottle or unused portion to the manufacturer.

So the networks and stations that run these really ought to put their own greed aside and apply some real "standards and practices" by refusing to run these ads
