"Equalizer" Visits O'Reilly For Franken Report

Video clip

http://thepoliticalteen.com/video/airamericafunds.wmv

"Brian Maloney appeared on The O’Reilly Factor this evening to discuss Air America’s financial woes. For the first time, the salary of Air America host Al Franken was released to the public. Franken makes over $2 million a year and his producer makes a salary of $600,000. Air America has to pay their New York affiliate over $2 million a quarter to broadcast the station to the local airwaves. Maloney did some investigating on how Air America is able to afford these costs when they make 1/10th to 1/20th compared to amount other stations rake in."

Once again, you shoot yourself in the foot.

You have yet to provide a single citation in answer to my challenge of your specious accusation that I post stuff from political blogs... even as you post stuff from political blogs.

Your own credibility is falling lower than your beloved Maloney's, at this point.<P ID="signature">______________

Losing Media Companies

Now let me get this straight.

When Rupert Murdoch sees a need for a conservative cable news/talk channel and loses $130 million in the first two years of the Fox News Channel's existence (because hardly anybody is watching and those P.I. spots don't bring in much revenue....).

He's a savvy businessman who knows that his investment will eventually pay off (Bill O'Reilly finally got better ratings than Larry King in 2000, four years after O'Reilly started on FNC).

But when some wealthy liberals see a need for a liberal radio network and lose far less than Murdoch did over a comparable period (less than two years)...

They'll never see their investments pay off and Air America is DOOMED because it's not on 600 stations and doesn't have Limbaugh's ratings.

I see.

It's all clear to me now.

Re: Losing Media Companies

Not quite clear.

Rupert Murdoch is CEO of News Corp and also has substantial holdings in DirecTV and Sky. News Corp reported $23.859 Billion(B) in revenue in the last fiscal year. Murdoch is a conservative, although like many people his views appear to have changed over time. Most of his newspapers are also conservative, apparently because he has determined conservatism sells. When News Corp started Fox News Channel the company had substantial revenue coming in and they had considerable experience in managing media companies. News Corp had already become the first successfully to launch a national TV network in competition with the "Big 3" (others had tried). News Corp was not a start up company when it launched FNC.

AAR on the other hand was started by a group of political activist backers to advance a political agenda. The company had no other source of income (just what its "angels" put up). AAR spent lavishly (more heavily than they needed to) and IMHO foolishly. Had they spent more carefully and made some better decisions, they might have bought themselves the time they needed to establish their operation.

FNC is a business. Their purpose is profit. Their product is conservatism. AAR is more of a crusade. AAR's purpose is politics.

Oh so now it's a "mission", What a life you must have, like Don Quixote and the windmills. Please tell me all about the so called CBS radio network oh wise one. If I misunderstood your posts it's because I haven't followed your writings as closely as I should have and I took your comments on face value.
