Equity Broadcasting coming to Seattle?

According to Equity Broadcasting's website, there is a TV station in their plans for Seattle. I don't know if this is a new station, or they plan on acquiring a station in Seattle. Equity owns KQUP in Spokane, recently switched from UPN to RTN (Equity's Retro Television Network), a broadcast version of TV Land.

Based on that, one might speculate on whether our WB station might be in their sights when Channel 11 becomes the new CW network affiliate. A retro TV network may be a better bet than going back to all syndication when WB/UPN merge.

Here in the Portland area, it was just announced that the current UPN affiliate, KPDX 49, will be affiliating this fall with My Network TV, which FOX's Rupert Murdoch is launching. I am assuming that KTWB Channel 22 in Seattle will do the same, rather than being an independent again.

Ah, forget the big league duopoly stations. We've got three stations around here that frankly can use some Equity in their lives - The i/Pax station and the two waste-of-time-and-bandwidth shopping channels. I'd like to see Equity buy one of those guys out.

Re: Equity Broadcasting coming to Seattle? (The Answer Is...)

After some googling, I found some more info...

Equity Broadcasting already owns a station here in the Seattle area. They purchased K58DP Ch.58 last year (under the name 'EBC Seattle, Inc.'), which is a low-powered station only seen in Seattle, and airing ShopNBC (a waste of precious bandwidth, considering KWOG is already broadcasting ShopNBC as well). They have since changed the call letters to KUSE-LP, and have filed a construction permit to move the station to ch. 30 and boost the power to 125 kW, and broadcast from Capital Hill (I suspect the LP suffix might be dropped later on, with that kind of ERP). They are planning to affiliate with a new network called ImaginAsian TV later this year...
