Eric Deters' new radio gig.

Eric Deters will begin doing a morning show, 6am-9am, for Spyrex Communications' ClassX Radio, simulcasting on WMWX 88.9 in Cincy, WKCX 89.1 in Northern Kentucky, and WYNS 89.3 in Warren County. He will begin in two to three weeks, according to his facebook page.

It should be interesting - especially having to stay within the confines of non-commercial rules. Talk about a domino effect of licenses.

That was something I wondered about as well.

Where you guys come up with this garbage of "staying within the non-comm rules" is down right ignorance on your part not knowing the rules/guidelines of non-commercial radio.
It is amusing to read post about non-comm radio by people AFRAID or Jealous of non-comm radio. READ the guidelines for non-comm. How would his show or any other show be a problem on non-com?

Westside - three words: call to action.

I built and ran a Non Comm under a 501C3.

I know the rules. You nailed it, "Call to Action" is everything, Toddy.

After 4 years of that nonsense, we sold it to K Love.

I did four years of non-comm too....doing afternoon drive at ClassX itself, as a matter of fact. "No call to action" was drilled into us all day every day. It's the big Kahuna of no-nos at ClassX. Folks have been booted for not understanding it.

It's one reason why I'm VERY curious to see how this goes. VERY.

For the record he will not be promoting his firm, but he is certainly allowed to give information. No promotion, just information. This show will not be about his firm but rather his personality!

yep - can't be too careful as a non com.. all it takes is you to slip up -- your competition sends the audio to the FCC.... and you write a big fat check to the US Govt.

Nothing against Eric. It will be hard to separate the two.

I didn't hear the show but, i guess that he couldn't stop saying "Real Talk 1160". Even at the close of the show.

He's been off for a few weeks, you'd think that he would have the old station and slogan out of his system.

I guess he made a veiled threat about the use of Green Water by TC on 1160.

I'm curious if people think this is a good move for Deters or bad? I think it's a huge benefit for ClassX because it gives them credibility and brings in new listeners. Not so sure for Deters though because I'm not sure how many listeners will stick with him. Although ClassX is definitely stronger now that they're 10K watts I still find the reception quite poor on the entire east side of the 275 loop. No matter how good the programming is (and I love ClassX's melodic rock/AOR programming) it's always going to be a tough sell if you get crappy reception. Thoughts???

We are working on a solution for the east side but it may take awhile because the FCC moves so slow. Solutions for both north, downtown and eastside coming if we can make it happen. Thanks for your kind comments on our programming Brady85. We just need to plug our phone apps harder! Clean reception anywhere!
