Ernie and Jay

Listening to Ernie makes you want to kill him.

Listening to Jay makes you want to commit suicide.

Does everyone on these boards hate everyone who is still on the air? It seems that way to me. I have no problem with Ernie and Jay, in fact, I would rather listen to them than Rush any day of the week. And now that they have been separated (a mistake in my opinion), I think it's just a matter of time before both are gone. That would leave no alternative on talk radio for us that don't want to be inundated by Rush's heavy handed politics. At least E & J talked about local stuff most of the time. I realize that they aren't everybody's cup of tea, but man, just stop all the hating. It's getting really, really old.

So...you don't listen to them, but listening to one of them makes you want to commit suicide?

That makes as much sense as all these YouTube threads you start that very few people post on.

Alrighty then.

Hey, go ahead and write about Russ Martin.

When did I ever say I had NEVER listened to them?

Listening in a generic sense ... everyone ... not just me.

And, if you support Ernie and Jay, why aren't any of you proud enough to sign your name to your post?

Sort of chicken s@#&, some might say.

I don't get why everyone on this board feels they have to bash everyone elses opinion. All ya'll do is insult each other every day. I don't work in radio -- I found this board years ago after a station I listened to flipped formats and check in periodically. And everytime I come, its a bunch of out of work people bashing each other. Why not do something good -- give positive feedback, constructive criticism (instead of insults), or give opinion without attitude.

And... Ernie and Jay was the best thing they had as far as a local show in that time slot. Ernie pretty much sounds the same with his own show; Jay is trying too hard and it shows. I would prefered adding an hour of news at noon and keeping their show from 10-12 and 1-3. That and traffic on the 8s instead of when they feel like it.

A great difference exists between critiquing a radio talk show and its hosts and attacking someone personally.

Whomever put these two guys together were right-on. But like everything else, the suits kept increasing their air time, finally 4 hours long. On top of that there was very little production, so they ended up with two guys trying to fill 4 hours a day with their own chatter.

Ernie Brown's assertive, take charge style reflects enormous talent, and he has the voice as well. Jay wines, and it seems odd that he was ever taken in as an on-air personality. Fortunately, the two of them together worked.

Ernie will survive, whether at KRLD or elsewhere. As a solo, I don't think Jay's got a chance. And that's a sad commentary since this mess was not Ernie and Jay's making.

That was a Gavin Spittle move...putting them together, that is. Was never a fan of his decisions, as I think this was the only good one during his tenure here. If I'm not mistaken, Jay was a friend of his (from the Vegas area?)...and was/is a trainwreck by himself. Actually enjoyed the 2 together. Found it to be a decent, well rounded show. Another great CBS decision!
