ESkip today

From NE NC KUHF 88.7 full quieting. NPR Houston, TX 12:00 noon today EDT. Car radio.

I had tropo conditions this morning from that area this morning. Picked up KBTV, KBMT, KVUE, and a spanish local on Channel 17 which I believe is XHTAM-TV in Tamulipas.

While driving between Elyria, OH and Lorain, OH about an hour ago I was getting a 95.7 from Valdosta, GA. Mentions a forecast high temp of 93 degrees and mentioned a news story on Fox 13. That's what caught my attention so I listened long enough to catch the station name "95.7 the mix"

You were hearing 95.7 from Tampa. Until my retirement, I worked for FOX13.
I'll start listening for Tampa signals here in Midland, Michigan.

Been getting E-skip all over the place today---as far south as South America, and north to Wisconsin/Michigan.

95.7 in Tampa is now 'The Beat'.

100.7 is now our 'Mix' station.

I've had no E Skip from here in Tampa so far today when I've been able to check.

You are correct. There is no FOX13 in Valdosta. Perhaps this person heard two stations.
I'm hearing lots of foreign FM signals up here.

I was getting E skip early this afternoon, with FM stations from Houston area and southwest Louisiana being heard here in VA. All signals were pretty weak.

92.1 KTSR "Kiss FM" Lake Charles, LA
92.7 a K-Love affiliate (sp?) unknown location
92.9 KHLA Jennings LA playing Bee Gees right after Lynyrd Skynyrd,
93.5 unknown contemporary Christian station
94.5 KSMB Lafayette, LA. Another 94.5 was alternative, playing Offspring's "Keep Em Separated", unknown location
95.7 KKHH Houston
96.5 KHMX Houston
98.5 Regional Mexical, probably KTJM Port Arthur, TX
99.1 AC station, playing Elton John's "Little Jeanie", probably KODA in Houston
101.7 unknown Spanish dance station, very weak signal.
102.1 unknown, playing blues.
The MUF seemed to end around here at 103
91.7 Unknown religious station

Update: just within the past few minutes I heard 95.7 the Bayou from New Orleans with classic rock.
Re: my earlier reception, I think I was getting a mix of 2 signals, one from Tampa and another from Valdosta, GA on 95.7. Will check other frequencies.

Do they QSL?? ;D

This afternoon around 2:30, heard KNIN 92.9 from Wichita Falls, TX, in Durham, NC, along with some other stuff I couldn't ID. There was an easy listening format also on 92.9..with an EAS alert. I think this was KVRE in Hot Springs Village, AR. I've logged both in the past.

RE: Do they QSL??

Noooooooooooooo, they don't. I've tried a few times to all their "sister stations" there withh CD recordings, prepared veries and the such and no luck. Actually no luck from ANY Black Crow owned station!

Bad news: missed an opening this early afternoon around noon-2pm, a DXer in CN82 had CA, while a DXer [Rick Lewis] here in Seattle had some UNIDs up to 97 mHz. Thanks Murphy!
