ESPEN COMMING TO THE CROCK IN TERRE HAUTE?

I heard today that Crosscoads is flipping the crock to espen in october. Wonder what will happen to am 1300 and 1130? It's a shame that they let this go on for as long as they did, but do you think sports is the answer? Also heard party marty on sister wbow 102.7. Sorry but I can't see party introducing air supply. Something wrong with this picture??

more bad programing and screw ups from crossed roads. :D
they really are entertaining. you certainly can't accuse them of not thinking outside the box.

I don't think sports will get more than a few sports fanatics but it makes more sense then what they were doing and probably a lot less work.. hit the switch and then check it once a month to make sure it's still on the air. as an added plus there would be no BMI or ASCAP fees so another cost savings.

Kind of like WIBQ there... they save the money on BMI and ASCAP and the numbers are about the same as when they were country. probably making the same money with fewer expenses.

turn the two crossroads AM stations off and no one will notice and you can save yourself the money on the light bill.

So the liners will change from:
"Country and Rock for Brazil - Crock 92.7" ... "Country and Rock for Sullivan - Crock 92.7"
to
"Sports Radio for Brazil - ESPN 92.7" ... "Sports Radio for Sullivan - ESPN 92.7"

I personally like the Country + Rock format. But Crock has presented it poorly almost from day one. The last time I was through TH, I heard about 8 liners that just said "Country and Rock for ___some town here__ - Crock 92.7."
How about trying to describe the format in the imaging? WHY should I listen?

Personaly I'd like the am stations go to someone who provide local programing. Though wsdm & wsdx are licensed in Brazil, crossroads has abandoned that city for the most part. Time will tell...

Actually moving it to FM isn't a bad idea... I know I'm missing out on the theme of bashing Crossroads but look at it! Crock has underperformed from day 1, and for what Crossroads is needing to do (keep costs as low as possible and maximize return on investment) ESPN on FM in the area isn't a bad move. It should do as well as, if not better ratings wise and the cost of doing it will be significantly lower. Throw in a decent local PM drive show to cover all the high schools, ISU, Rose Hulman and SMW, but keep the Cubs off of it! Baseball on radio might make a quick buck, but it's death for ratings. Keep Cubs on the AM's or on 104.9 and get WW1's NFL coverage and the Pacers and it'll be good to go. It could rate as high or higher than WBOW FM and should outpace what Crock did/does in the ratings. What do you do with the AM's? Chances are they won't take them dark, or donate them or go non-comm with them... so what do they do? Maybe Talk Radio Network programming, or a music of your life... or Country Gold?

Just heard that am 1300 will keep espn to help fill 92.7's dead spots in terre haute. am 1130 will be turned OFF. Not sure if they're giving up the license or if it will shut down right away when the changes take effect oct.4

Can the 92.7 in Seymour upgrade if they kill it? Poor station though, I remember when every third song was Morning Train by Sheena Easton...they've come so far...:)

They won't kill 92.7... it will be the AM in Brazill. 1130 I think?

AM 1130 will go dark sometime after the switch.. What a shame, for a small 500 watt it can reach the Northside of Indianapolis. They were one of the first stations to air Mike Pence when he had his talkshow with Network Indiana. Several calls came from Avon and Indy area before WIBC finally carried his show. 92.7 is going espn so they arn't going to kill it by truning it off but by poor programming like they done since the crock's beginning. 13th and Ohio is where poor decisons are makde on a daily basis and don't be surprised someday when the bank locks the doors.

As of the morning of Monday, October 4, The Crock is no more. ESPN Radio was simulcasting on all three (AM 1130 is still on for now).

What a waste of the 92.7 frequency! They didn't do much to fix the problems with the crock. Everyone and their granma knew it stunk on ice. Like to hear some type of musical format on am1130, nostalgia or classic country but it won't happen since crossroads is pulling all stops to stay alive.

RIP WSDX 1130am

Interesting, nobody wanted it? Seems like a decent daytime signal. Can't be much of an electric bill...a high school station? ISU needs an NPR outlet...boot WFIU back to bloomington.

Yep. ISU is likely to start up an NPR outlet with their millions (4 million?) in budget cuts the last two academic years.
