Today, Mediaweek has a story about an "affiliation deal with Greater Media" which is "part of a broad strategy to migrate more affiliates to FM."
Think about this: How many FM stations does Greater Media own in Charlotte? Just one: 107.9 The Link. Granted, they must be good at what they're doing now with personality talk, Bob & Sheri, the whole bit. But reading this article made me wonder if WLNK's days are numbered, perhaps before B&S hang it up?
Now, of course, WFNZ is basically the sports monopoly in Charlotte, and I think they're sitting on ESPN Radio market rights. But Greater Media already airs Panthers games on 1110 WBT, so why wouldn't a simulcast of the games be out of the question?
