ESPN 1250 - Sign Of Desperation?

Anyone notice that their afternoon drive program "The Ari and Minnix Show" has quietly morphed into "The Ari and Minnix Show Featuring Dat Nguyen"?

They can bring in "Dat Dude" Marcellus Wiley, and they still wouldn't be able to take down Mike Taylor.

By the way... Nice move for the local TEXANS station to have a former COWBOYS player on the show.

I didn't view it as desperation, I viewed it as shrewd. Football is king on sports talk radio, and Dat Nguyen can speak from experience as a former Aggie, a former Cowboy and a former coach. I'm sure management likes that he helps the station's EEO numbers by adding a minority to a show hosted by a couple of non-minorities. The guy covers a lot of bases for the station.

1250 also never hired a replacement for Paul Alexander when he left around the first of the year, so they likely had some money and headcount space available.

Ari and Minnix seem to be aiming for a more serious audience than Taylor, who likes to goof on football authority figures like Jerry Jones and Mack Brown for their personal style as much as their football decisions. Dat Nguyen's experience can supply more informed speculation than any media guy could ever come up with.
