ESPN 1400

Just got back from vacation and notice "1400 the Touch" is now ESPN 1400. The station ID was a little
garbled but it sounded like WHGB. No doubt the Phillies will be added at some point. It will be interesting
to see if they dent the ratings of 1460 the Ticket. In Indianapolis, FSR still beats ESPN Radio despite
ESPN being on a 50kw daytime blowtorch (against 5000 watts).

If it does dent the Ticket, how much of a dent is that? Really, this move (on the AM side) doesn't mean anything. The Touch to FM was the key. HBG barely needs 1 sports station, let alone two.

Man, Cumulus has a real "powerhouse" set-up with the ESPN franchise. 1400 with a signal that has the coverage equal to barely 250 watts and the old WGCB in Red Lion, with it's mighty 700 watt day/ 53 watt night signal.....if you COMBINE the two you may come up with a "peanut whistle". 1400's horrible day and even worse night signal will be eaten alive by the 5kw from 1460.

I'm not so sure......since the move to Manchester Township, 1440 comes in pretty well even in Harrisburg. Cumulus may not do any better than the 1350/1600 ESPN franchise, but I'm happy not to have to find
WMVP-1000 in Chicago for ESPN radio at night.

As far as 1440 goes, I can't get it ANYWHERE in Harrisburg during the day....it is obliterated by the sidebands of 1460, especially on the West Shore. And I guess 1400 is OK if you live right in Harrisburg. You can barely get it a Reeser's Summit at night.
