ESPN 2 Bottom Line

Not sure if anyone noticed. As I see no one has posted about this yet. But why did ESPN 2 change their bottom ticker to a red background on the ESPN2 logo. It used to be blue. Only ESPN was red background on the bottomline along with ESPN Classic. And with ESPN being a red bottomline and ESPN2 being a blue bottomline it made them easier to tell apart. So why are they both the same color now?

Purely a guess, but ESPN 2 has the reputation in the industry of being a less important channel with a smaller distribution. I'm willing to bet they want to brand ESPN 2 to look and feel like its older sibling and shed that reputation.

This seems like it will only make things more confusing in the future. Is this going to be a permanent thing? That article wasn't too clear to me. How the heck are they going to distinguish between the two channels without saying "ESPN2"?

It seems to be the same thing they're doing with ABC. Promote it as being on that network, but when you get there the logos and graphics are all ESPN, with the network name (ABC, ESPN2) only on the bottomline.

Seems like it could get confusing though...

It did seem like the blog post was being overly dramatic, but I have noticed not only the new BottomLine color but the score bug/box says "ESPN" as well. How long before all the sports they occasionally put on ESPN Classic go this way as well???
