ESPN 97.5

The other day (Thursday) I tried listenig to ESPN 97.5. I found myself really bored after 30 minutes of listening.

Who wants to eat Wheaties every morning. Every now and then, you have to have some bacon and eggs.

I get enough sports news out of the morning paper. Now, on the other hand, if ESPN would just show a little personality in their approach to programming; they might be worth listening to for awhile. I'm actually having more fun listening to the KGOW guys. At least they soundlike they're having fun.

I'm really starting to get into KGOW, too. ESPN is as boring to listen to in the car as it is to watch on TV.

I guess I'm a little jealous of the guys on KGOW. They actually get to enjoy themselves; like we used to be able to do when I was on the air.

I will agree, they do sound like they are enjoying themselves. However, whenever I tune in, they're not really talking sports. They're talking about all kinds of other crap. I like Carl Dukes and Calvin Murphy's shows on 97.5, when I want to listen for Houston-related sports, which isn't that often. When I want to be "entertained", I do listen to KGOW.

I agree that KGOW's guys do seem to have the kind of fun we all used to have in the business. I threw my support behind their station and efforts at their inception and when I am in a sports or mood for off the wall banter, I always tune in. If nothing else, the "fun" they seem to have is enough to make me smile while I watch my friends who are facing radio layoffs or other tough economic crises.

I cannot say that I have ever wanted to listen to ESPN 97.5. I've listened to 1560 since 2007 and have no real desire to go elsewhere for sports talk. It isn't usually my main format preference, but during baseball season, I do listen.

There is no comparison here: KGOW is so much better than 97.5 taht it is hardly worth discussing. I have long wondered why this board does not support KGOW more. It is a throwback station, something you cannot find in the era of CC and Cumulus.
