IMHO Then Wrigley Field could be considered a minor league park too. Filled ball parks no matter what the size look better on TV.We may be facing that situation again in 2026, depending on who gets the rights to the postseason games now carried by ESPN (wild-card round, IIRC). I can see some being on FS1 and others being on some non-sports-centric streaming service, like Amazon Prime or Apple+.
I can also see MLB asking that games played in Tampa (Rays) and Sacramento (A's), should those teams make the playoffs, be available to as few out-of-market viewers as possible, just to spare MLB the embarrassment of showing big league product in minor league ballparks.
Absurd statement. Wrigley seats almost 40,000.IMHO Then Wrigley Field could be considered a minor league park too. Filled ball parks no matter what the size look better on TV.
And it’s hosting the all star game in 2027.Absurd statement. Wrigley seats almost 40,000.
There are broadcast standards that have to be met. Lighting, technical requirements, press box requirements. Not to mention MLB league standards for clubhouses, You can’t just pick a place and have a game.It really doesn't matter where a game is played as long as the field's sightlines for the TV cameras "slow the stands full". It's all about the image and money.
If you ever watch golf it's amazing what they do without lighting. There are broadcast standards that have to be met. Lighting, technical requirements, press box requirements. Not to mention MLB league standards for clubhouses, You can’t just pick a place and have a game.
The Field of Dreams game took years of planning. The Little League Classic has to be brought up to standards.
Golf has lighting. It’s called the sun. There is a reason they suspend play when it gets dark.If you ever watch golf it's amazing what they do without lighting.
The players are just a bunch of wimps. When I played football we only had 5 or 10 minutes of hot water to shower. Nothing like playing in 40 degree rain then take a cold shower before a bus ride back to school.

Are you saying high school football is tougher than the NFL? Is that your argument.
Minor league parks don’t have nice clubhouses. No it's not. There is simple physics involved. Bigger and faster makes harder collisions. The conditions of the clubhouse or locker room and most statiums are much better now than 50 years ago (when I played) on all levels. Of course there is a lot more money involved. I bet some college football guys are making more now than some NFL rookies back in the 1970's.
They are even better now after the renovations.I'm still trying to figure out what any of this has to do with Wrigley Field, which has never been anything but a major league ballpark and whose locker rooms meet MLB standards.
I've seen it mentioned elsewhere that the CBA has a requirement that the Sunday Night games start when they do so the players can leave town and get to the next city at a reasonable time. So they couldn't move it later without the player's approval.Wonder if SNB happens to go to NBC if they'd consider pushing first pitch back to the old 8PM Eastern time, especially in this day in age where pace of play thanks to pitch clock has helped accelerate games. Not to mention I'm sure CBS (NBC could care less, but) don't want this to get in the way of 60 Minutes & rather have NBC do an ESPN Baseball Tonight-equivalent kinda pregame leading in.
They hated the 8pm start time as the games went too long on travel days.I've seen it mentioned elsewhere that the CBA has a requirement that the Sunday Night games start when they do so the players can leave town and get to the next city at a reasonable time. That's gonna get way more eyeballs then anything on Apple.
As far as I know, the existing MLB deal with Apple TV is only for rights within the US. Not even in Canada.Keep in mind that NBC is domestic, while Apple claims viewers in 60 countries. The MLB is trying to grow the sport beyond the US.
