ESPN Classic to shut down on 12/31/2021

I won't miss it terribly, but I did enjoy the occasional episode of AWA wrestling which originally aired from the mid 80s to the early 90s. That's where a handful of wrestlers who went onto bigger fame in WWE, etc. got their start.

i knew the channel's days were number when Dish dropped it in 2014 as part of the deal to settle the Disney HD Channels illegal retransmission lawsuit (which was filed in court in 2010 over some Disney/ESPN owned channel's having a deal that allowed the SD feeds to be carried, but Dish had no such deal for legal retransmission of the HD Channels and assumed they could carry them at no extra cost only for Disney to get mad and sue them for it, which resulted in the HD feeds being removed and the channels being legally carried in SD only cause they needed a separate deal to carry them in HD at the time).

Spectrum got rid of ESPN Classic in Oct of 2019 when they had to get a new deal with Disney AT&T as well took it off in Nov of the same year, so yeah ESPN Classic days were numbered I'm guessing maybe the smaller Cable/Telco companies were carrying ESPN Classic it was very few at this point.
