ESPN Deportes WAMA 1550

It would be better if ESPN Deportes moves to AM-1550 WAMA to thier sister station AM-680 WEGS?

AM 1550 has a bad singal with 10,000 watts during the daytime. Thier singal is not like the big ones like WDAE,WHBO,WWBA,WFLA...

Any thoughts?

AM 1550 used to have a pretty good daytime signal coverage area. I'll have to check them out. Maybe they're not as good as they used to be.

Looking at the Radio Locator website, it depends probably on where you live. It looks like 1550 is poor in the western half of Pinellas County. On the other hand, 680's transmitter is much closer to Pinellas (and 680 is a lower frequency, too). So you're right, 680 probably is a better bet if you're talking about the Tampa-St. Pete metro area.

So how can we get ESPN Deportes to AM-680 dial? I dont know what is AM-680 right now I remeber back then they used to be Rumba. I dont speak spanish to e-mail them to ask if they can move ESPN Deportes to AM-680?

According to Radio Locator, these stations are owned by different corporations. If that is the case, it is highly unlikely that they would consider such a switch. I am sure they have someone on their staff who can read/write English. The only thing you can do is to send them an email, but I am doubtful anything would come from it. Good luck -

This is probably a stupid question, but if you don't speak Spanish, why do you want to hear ESPN Deportes (which I assume is entirely in Spanish)?

This is a station without a sense of direction. WAMA needs to re-invent itself. Perhaps as a Spanish News and Talk station. ESPN Deportes does not appeal to most of the Spanish speaking audience in the Tampa Bay Area, IMHO.

WAMA does need to re-invent itself.....but to say ESPN Deportes does not appeal to most of the Spanish speaking audience in the Tampa Bay area has some validity if you are only going to talk about the Mexican Soccer league. You need good local programming to complement what you have nationally and also talk about the local major league sports teams you have in your area. In this case the Bucs and the Rays. Hockey has too much of an uphill battle with getting people to learn the game since most have no clue about it. But compelling programming is the key.
