This may belong in the National TV folder, but it is a sports broadcasting thing but every year now the way ESPN does both HOF cermonies shows how wide the gap is between football and baseball
Football:
Treated as an ESPN Football broadcast, Its done from the football stadium in Canton, kind of gives a more "football event" feel to it and it shows in the rabidness of the fans. TV seems to dictate when they come in-and-out of breaks, and only Berman's welcoming of the TV audience, the commish, and the inductee's speeches get televised (not even the roll call gets televised) Oh yeah, ESPN carries it live on the "Mothership"
Baseball:
Treated more like an old relic than anything. Could be because its on a big lawn in Cooperstown there really isn't any "juice" to the proceedings. You do get the entire ceromony with the roll call, Selig, the media award winner's speechs, and the inductees. But its more of a relaxed atmosphere than football's which seems to be a little more high energy (again probably due to the fact that they are inside a stadium and not relaxing on a great lawn like at a Music Festival or something) Oh, and its live on ESPN Classic. So the football one gets to be on the main ESPN channel, but baseball is relagated to the network dedicated to remembering the past? Something just doesn't quite click.
Just throwing those observations out there. I mean apparantly there is nothing anyone can do about it as its been this way for quite some time
