Why are we supposed to suddenly care about the Pro Bowl? I guess it is a good vacation for the crew. I can understand broadcasting live for the weekend. But the whole week? Who cares about the Pro Bowl?
Edited by karaokelegend on 02/09/06 05:25 PM.

They've done that for the last 2 or 3 years.

It's football, and the only real football we've got for the next nine months.

Because now that the NFL has its own network (NFL Network) they're going to start making ESPN dance like a little dog to earn the leftovers that the league will eventually keep.

The gauntlet has been thrown down: With the NFL Network taking the huge step to begin airing some regular season games, thats less potential exposure for CBS,FOX, NBC and ESPN.

Remember how quickly the outcry dissapated when ESPN and TNT were awarded their games? The NFL on Cable. Sacreligious, it was....for about five minutes.

Now ESPN is potentially facing the same threat as the over the air networks did when ESPN got the NFL....

Because ESPN is carrying it. Remember two weeks ago? We got live reports from Senior Bowl practices, as if anyone other than draft nerds cares. If CBS or NBC was carrying the Pro Bowl, ESPN would carry stories right after the Pro Bowlers Tour and Adolescent Skateboarding.
