ESPN Radio 1290 Stunting?

1290 in Panama City? That's a pretty weak station... does it even cover the whole city (town)? With the new WFLA in town, could sports be moving to another station? Perhaps an FM station?

Yeah, that's some lousy coverage. It's time to let the Christians have that signal. Every town has at least one sports station, so the format can't be going away. As much as I like the standards, sports in Panama City probably belongs on the big signal, 590. Although, 93.5 or WBPC, with their new CP and translators online, could pull off the format on FM.

... wasting my time making predictions, time to get back to work on the Wild Turkey.

I hear they are going classic country via satellite in a couple of days....glad someone posted this...I can't hear them where I live in Lynn Haven................................................................................................................................................................

Hell I live about a mile for the tower and barely can hear it...my suggestion was to sell that thing or give it away or better yet..turn it off.

Didn't it have some CCM back in the mid 80s or so?

I seem to remember picking it up at Mexico Beach. Of course this was YEARS ago!

THIS JUST IN!

1290 and B 95 will now do a simulcast. Combined they will now cover half of the market. The format is me blowing my nose and listenership is expected to increase on both sticks.

It seems as if cceng nailed another one by calling country on 1290.

I'm sure all the people who live within 1/2 a mile of the xmitter appreciate it. But that signal is so weak, no one else will appreciate it. I don't understand this switch. Do they think they're actually going to make money with it? Sports is so low maintenance, I don't see how it could be any lower.

Oh, and Dale, funny stuff...

Yes he sure did ... especially since the format change was posted in the Panama City News Herald on 9/8 - page 6B

you read the mullet wrapper?

Usually just the squall line, obituaries (make sure I'm not listed), and 'Pearls Before Swine'.

A music format on a directional AM mono signal that covers about a one mile radius on a good day...another brilliant move by the powers that be...Nose blowing? That'd be compelling!
