ESPN Radio in Panama City

I'm not sure ESPN just sends out programming in mono. I'm pretty sure I've heard separation on some of the nat'l feed elements. I could be wrong. IDK.

Poledo, When was the last time you listened? ;) WBSR had Bama this past season. The also have, Saints, Hornets, Wahoos, Ice Flyers all on lock.

Answer me this good Dr. Why is WCOA 100.7 advertising coverage of the Ice Flyers this weekend if they are contracted with BSR?

Also, why is minor league Ice Hockey on a 100kw blowtorch in Dixie?

Just a guess.....Wahoos have contract rights for Saturday night, and someone made a couple calls to make sure the hockey game could be heard?

Why 100.7? Why not? It's not like WCOA FM has anything better going on.

I came up with my own answer on why the hockey game may be on 100.7. Pensacola is playing Biloxi so both towns will be able to hear the Sat and Sun games on WCOA FM.

How many people listen to talk radio on Sat and Sun night anyway?

I have no idea why I hadn't considered that WBSR wasn't capable of carrying the Hohaas and Flyers at the same time. Duh.

Could the 101.1 translator really gain 10 more miles of coverage radius if they dropped the stereo? That seems extreme.

On another note I now know which funny icon on my car radio display stands for stereo... I've only had the same radio for 10 years.

In the car yes. Skip could impact the signal, and or co channel issues would change this.

Example: W223AX Foley. 200 Feet @ 250W. If WPAP isn't breaking in, or ducting it not a factor, you can hear it 18-20 miles in the car. For a good signal at home (solid city grade) a signal limited to about 5 miles. W278AP is another signal that with the right conditions can be hear way out of the 60db. They have a tower height advantage, probably on par with a class A.

I did hear both the translator and the full powered panama city station by adjusting the antenna on the grundig. Both were in stereo. It's got the AAZ effect, we send stereo but we don't.. it makes it harder for those in rural areas of the signal to listen. Watch the translator overpower the 12KW signal out of springfield. That signal has balls.

They played Biloxi last week. Saturday, the game was against Knoxville.

And while I'm thinking about it. ESPN does send out a stereo feed. There's no doubt after listening some this weekend. Unless someone wants to try and tell me that the left to right sweep I heard was because WBSR has the ability to take a mono feed, reprocess it, and broadcast stereo.
