ESPN-Radio on 106.3?

While looking around mostly an FM dial just after 9PM,
for Fireworks related, I was surprised to hear an
ESPN-Radio on 106.3, which earlier Thursday was I think
Viet Nameese? This feed sounds like its from an SCA,
some white noise, but also another kind of music
bleeding through. I suppose they have a wrongly tuned
satellite receiver?

who knows? That frequency is brokered out to the local Little Saigon Community and their nighttime op/engineer was probably out enjoying the fireworks as were probably all of their listeners.

Coming from someone who once played Larry King backwards in Los Angeles for an hour before a listener called me, ANYTHING is possible!

You should have known something was wrong when you heard Larry say, "?there caller the is ;Rouge Baton to go Let's." :D

Larry's the guy who, well into the 2000s, asked a guest who was a cabinet member in the second Bush administration:

"And how soon did you inform President Kennedy?"

If I heard Larry backwards, I'd call 911 before I'd ever think to call the studio.

That's akin to a desire expressed by Olivia Newton-John. In 1973 she stunned a lot of country music fans by winning a CMA Award for best female vocalist (for Let Me Be There) and around that same time she said she would love to meet Hank Williams.

Hank had died on January 1.

In 1953.

Ah...well, Olivia in 1973....let's just say that someone needed to explain that to her. I would have gladly devoted every night for the next....just about forever...had I known she'd said that.

Were you hopelessly devot-------no, I'm not going to finish that question. You deliberately set me up for that one, didn't you? ;)

If not for her, there would have been a poster-sized blank spot on the wall. I wanted her to let me be there in the morning, let me be there in the night. I honestly loved her. I mean, have you never been mellow? Please, mister, please. She was the one that I wanted on those summer nights. Darn right I was hopelessly devoted. My emotions were deeper than the night and had me dancin' round and round in the hope that she'd call me up and say "let's get physical."

Of course, I would have had a heart attack.

I am thinking that just perhaps she meant it in the sense that I might say that I would like to meet Abraham Lincoln, fully aware that he was assassinated back in 1865. There are a lot of historic people that I should like to have a chance to meet face to face who I am know have died.

Then there was Mr. Peabody and Sherman with their way back machine or "Back To The Future". ;D

Olivia didn't say she wished she could have met Hank Williams; she said she wanted to meet him. There's a big difference. She grew up in Australia in the 1950s-60s and his records were played on the radio but of course no DJ is going to play a Hank Williams song and then say "He's dead, y'know." I guess I shouldn't be too hard on her. Since we're already way off topic, here---just for Michael--- is an encyclopedia page that has Olivia's biography and lists of all her singles, albums, videos, movies and tv appearances plus links to some videos:

I missed a few in my previous post, but I couldn't come up with a good one for "Let It Shine" and I couldn't bear the thought of her telling "Sam" to "Come On Over".

And "Xanadu me, baby"....well...

Actually, my case of the major unrequiteds for Livvy only ran from 1971-1974. When she beat Joni Mitchell's "Court And Spark" for album of the year at the Grammys, that was a bridge too far. Radio-friendly and cute, yes, but who's kidding who?

As good as I am at making bad puns, I couldn't come up with anything for Xanadu other than this: "And now, for all you members of Kublai Khan's Yuan Dynasty, without further Xanadu, here is Olivia Newton-John!"

That one is worse than bad!
