If the technology ever develops to the point that special glasses will not be needed to view 3D TV, it will have a chance. Until then it will remain the same flop of a gimmick that it was when it hit movie theaters in the 1950's. Each 3D TV should come with a complementary large bottle of Advil to help cope with the eyestrain headaches generated by watching it for any length of time.
4k is another answer to a question nobody asked. Normal people are still paying off their credit card bills for upgrading to HDTV. Many still can't tell the difference between true HD, the compressed HD they get via cable or satellite, and stretched SD, so how the hell will they begin to see the difference provided by 4K on any screen less than 70""? What real time delivery system will support 4k when 1080p is still a pipe dream on cable and satellite and bandwidth is getting harder and harder to find? Do some of the suits trying to push this understand that the economy still sucks big time, meaning that disposable income is tight? Please, everybody do a reality check and keep your shirts on, ok?
