ESPN UPDATE

This update guy John Culley (sp?) or somehting like that he is HORRIBLE has made mistakes on 4 consecutive updates, his updates ended on him twice, how is this guy on national radio...he make Amy Lawrence sound GOOD doing updates.

what do you expect from a company that hires people within a 50 mile radius of Bristol, Ct; talent?

No competition, no desire to provide quality = ESPN.

In my area, ESPN is on 1550, a sun-rise to sun-set 1kw AMer that hasn't had more than a half-dozen listeners since the late 60's/early 70's. So the poor quality of ESPN radio fits right in! If the station were live/local, that is about the same quality of talent they were have the money to hire.

slightly off topic but i never figured out why daytimers would go with sports, when most sporting events happen at night....... (yes you can stream but the major sports aren't allowed online for free)

As most sports fans are watching the games on TV, not being on at night is not the major problem. For the station I referred to, not signing on until 7:30 in January and 7:15 in February IS a major problem. Mike & Mike could draw an audience, but not when you must be on at 6am to give your station a shot in morning drive.

The weekend day-time draw can be big for a daytimer airing sports. Guys driving around or working around the house will probably have the radio on. But from what I have heard on both Fox and ESPN weekend radio, the hosts give little reason to listen.
