ESPNRADIO 970 STILL FOXSPORTSRADIO 970???

Seems someone over at Clear Channel didn't get the memo. Early Monday morning - at least in the 3AM and 4AM hours - 970 was running both ESPN and Fox network programming at the same time! LOL

Typical Clear Channel sloppiness. I'm not from the area, but I know Clear Channel has these problems in Hartford, Connecticut which is the market I live in. One Sunday Night their Sunday Night Mix Show on KISS 95.7 was automated rather than live and about 5 songs were playing all on top of each other and making the station sound just like a horrible, unlistenable mess. Then I guess someone came into the building and was working on the problem and soon it was commercials playing at the same time as the music, but it was just one song playing at the same time as the commercials and not 5.

it got even better early on Sunday morning....they were running ESPN programming, Fox Sports Radio programming,
and some brokered religious program, all simultaneously over top of one another.

I thought that was an innovative way for a station to be all things to all people. ::)

I had noticed that too, around 1am I tuned in to see if they had switched or if they were still running JT the Brick and heard both. Nice way for the new ESPN 970 to kick off.

Radiomayor2, I hear a lot of screw-ups not only on 970, but also WPGB. Misfires and lots of dead air.

Does anyone who works at the CC cluster know why that is? WPGB has been on the air for quite a few years now, you'd think those issues would've been resolved by now.

clearly folks ain't payin attention to the automation.....not true in many cc markets.....
if mgt ain't payin attention then find somebody who will.......

it's not rocket science......somebody works with the system it can be dealt with

So overnight into Tuesday, 970 carried ESPN's Jason Smith ... overnight into Wednesday, 970 had Fox's JT the Brick. ??? I guess at least they're no longer playing them at the same time! ::)

4:11 am Thursday and they are again broadcasting JT the Brick. Not sure if this is a mistake or not, on their website they only list the 6am-7pm lineup (http://www.970espn.com/main.html) so maybe they are planning on keeping the FSR stuff overnights. I haven't listened enough to see if they are airing Tony Bruno at 10pm or ESPN radio, but as a listener I prefer the FSR late nite offerings over those on ESPN so I am hoping hoping this isn't just a technical glitch.

Last night in the 6-7 hour they did the Bryant McFadden Show, and the intro was still saying
"Fox Sports Radio 970". Not like they haven't had weeks and weeks to prepare for the change.

And this morning they were running the Fox Sports Radio overnight show up until the
beginning of Mike and Mike at 6AM. This station does seem to have a split personality.

They seem to still be running Fox overnights, at least on those occasions when they aren't running both networks at the same time.. I suppose that is one way to fill all of your local avails, make goods on two different networks.

They had been running the Sportscenter AM program from ESPN between 5 and 6 until yesterday.
Of course their website does not give any sort of program schedule between 7PM and 6AM. Keeping
their options open I suppose.

That actually wouldn't be a bad idea if it is intended, usually that hour is a repeat on Fox Sports Radio of the first hour of their overnight programs. I did tune in a little earlier last night and was glad to hear that for the time being Tony Bruno is still on as well. Not sure if it is the whole show or not, but he was on from 12am-1am.

From today's McKeesport Daily News ... It's still Fox Sports Radio overnights.

“We had contractual obligations we could not get out of,” WBGG program director Jay Bohannon said.
Bohannon points out that ESPN still is carried much of the day and all weekend long on AM 970. He said Fox Sports Radio runs from 11 p.m.-6 a.m. weekdays.
Also, Bohannon noted, Jim Rome’s midday AM 970 show is fed by Premiere Radio Networks, a Clear Channel subsidiary that syndicates Fox Sports Radio.
Bohannon said Rome will go to a noon-2 schedule and Stan Savran, now airing 10-11 a.m., would go 10-noon once football season ends. “Tunch and Wolf,” Steeler analysts Tunch Ilkin and Craig Wolfley, will be on from 11-1 until then.
Bohannon said he did not know when the Fox overnight obligation would end.
He also said the station is working out its baseball schedule, including broadcasts from the Pirates’ Bradenton spring camp and possible carriage of minor league baseball. WBGG has had selected coverage in recent seasons of the Pirates’ Altoona Curve Eastern League farm team.

Jay might want to try listening to his own station then, Saturday mornings (starting at 12am) they are carrying the overnight Fox Sports programming and on Saturday night/Sunday morning they are gracing us with Fox Sports and ESPN running at the same time. It is an audio train wreck that shows how little attention Clear Channel is actually paying to that signal.

Well, no surprise about them and Jay not paying attention. I've heard two shows running multiple times on WPGB. Perhaps if he relied less on keeping certain pots up all the time (so I'm told), then perhaps two things wouldn't run at the same time. Get that automatic logic on the board to work properly and you wouldn't have the same probably running over and over again.
