ESPNRADIO - All Night w/Todd Wright no more

Just heard Jason Smith at the start of the show say that this is the new show from 1-6am (EDT) and that they plan to maintain the same quality of program that has occupied the slot for the last few years.

I head Todd on last night. Strange to change in the middle of the week.
Anyone hear anything?

I don't know any news on it, but I am extremely disappointed. Jason Smith cannot hold a candle to Todd Wright. The show tonight/this morning is bland. Whoever made this decision made a mistake.

Here is the note off of the ESPN site:

http://espnradio.espn.go.com/espnradio/show?showId=allnight

For a company that did not seem to be all that interested in the past in explaining its personnel decisions, I was surprised to see that ESPN specifically mentioned (on the AllNight page itself!) that they had not renewed Wright's contract. Seems a little out of character, but I could be wrong.

I know Wright had some legal issues last year, but I am purely speculating if these issues impacted this decision.

I do absolutely agree that this is a distinct downgrade in show quality, though. I liked Wright's tone and easy relationship with regular guests. Smith is hard to stomach sometimes, but all I can hope is that he will get better, and soon.

They did announce months in advance that Chuck Wilson's contract wouldn't be renewed, of course those may have been different circumstances.

Me and the Man heard this strange creature on Todd's show and that's how we found out. Just think, no more Freedom of Choice or Lavish. Makes me feel so alone now. At least I can catch Mr. Tony on the internet. ESPN seems to be shoving out any folks with personality. Just you wait. Bobby V. will be next. IF anybody hears about what Todd is going to do please let us know. And Todd, we miss you.

I was part of the audience that was "in the biz" and listened every morning on the way in to my morning show. They were correct to not renew his contract for All Night, they should have promoted him! Boo Hiss to ESPN on this one. Maybe Sporting News Radio will pick him for overnights or Fox Sports?

Also in the biz, listened to Todd Wright every morning on the drive in from 4:15am to 5. VERY disappointed.

Horrible move by ESPN. All Night w/ Todd Wright was AMAZING radio. Especially during football season. Thumbs down to ESPN Radio. That network has gone downhill fast. The only person worth listening to now is Bobby V.

Looks like im back to FSR and JT the Brick and Sedano.

Silly forgetful me. You are absolutely correct there. Maybe in this day and age of Information Deluge, this practice will become more common. Maybe it might be wise to get your own story out there first?

And, damn, Wilson was nothing if not professional. You reminded me how disappointed I was at that move, too.

Yeah ESPN radio is so bad right now, Todd was one host that actually took the time to talk NHL because he wanted to no because he had too. Sports radio is horrible right now.

Surley Todd will wind up somewhere else. I remember hearing him say on the radio that he does work for FSN Florida or Suns Sports. I can't remember which. I had his show on through the night. I slept through lots of it, but I enjoyed it while I was awake. Kind of like talking sports with a friend.

I've always wondered what T. Wright looks like, since he likes to give off the impression that he's quite the ladies' man. Which begs the question, why isn't he on TV if he's such a "face jockey?"

I wondered the same thing he had the "women of all night" collection. Todd mention he appeared on Sun Sports (Sunshine Network) in Florida. I tried to look for a pic of his mug and wasn't able to come up with anything I just can't listen to Jason Smith. ESPN radio is crap keeping bad hosts.

Todd was briefly on WWE Raw a few weeks ago, wearing a Kyle Turley jersey and sitting in the front row.

Looks like a little bit chubby in my opinion, but he was rather blurred and the camera always adds ten pounds...

My Man found a pic of Todd thru extensive reasearch. Todd then asked my husband not to publish this photo.
Has anybody found Todd on the radio/tv yet? Jason Smith just received his 2nd hate mail from me already. I'm going crazy.

Why is he is so sensitive about his face being seen? Isn't there a police mug shot available somewhere stemming from his recent arrest?

His mug shot is available on the county sheriff's website where he was arrested. It's public record. I won't post it, but if you are resourceful, you should be able to find it without much trouble.

I have seen Todd on Sun Sports. Looks like the rest of us sports fans, pretty normal.

Ok, I think I've found him.
A posting on a sports gossip web page gave a contact address for him as
[email protected] and says he's been going to as many sports games as possible.

Maybe that's one reason why.

ESPN's television network declined it's option to keep the National Hockey League, so the NHL may now be "persona non grata" at ESPN, including ESPN Radio. Expect "Sportscenter" (both the TV show and the thrice-hourly radio updates) to devote even less coverage to the NHL now that the national cable rights went to OLN.

Maybe Wright was even told "We're de-emphasizing the NHL because our TV neytwork no longer has it. We have to promote sports we do have, which is almost everything else. So don't talk hockey if you can avoid it". And maybe he refused.

Conspiracy theory?? Yes. Likely?? Probably not. But still, it's an interesting thought.......
