ET News changes...

Well as I stated in a previous post, I was up in the Tyler-Longview area over the Labor Day Weekend. I noticed this morning, Clint Yeatts was doing ET News Daybreak on KLTV, which I thought was Brian Roberts gig. I tuned to Channel 19, where I noticed Brian was there now. Then, I tuned to KETK, where I saw Bob Brackeen doing the AM News gig. When did all this happen? Is Clint still doing the 6pm? Is he a permanent fixture on Daybreak? I thought Brackeen was doing weekends? And, this is the 2nd time Roberts spurned KLTV to go to the competition.

I must say that I was impressed at the quality of Channel 19. The picture was very crisp and I didn't see any huge mistakes. That's quite rare for a relatively new station. I saw several on a very crappy UPN, including a bug airing over every commercial and their commercial playback server and whatever they are airing programming off of is out of phase.

Brackeen is a good anchor. The only thing is he said 7am several times, instead of 6am this morning.
______________

Yes, Clint Yeatts does do East Texas News @ Daybreak with Dana Dixon and Stephen Parr. The Brian you are referring to is Bryan Houston. He jumped ship with his pal Phil Hurley to go to the mornings at CBS 19 a few months ago. Bryan was useless at KLTV anyways, he just came in the mornings and read the prompter.

Brackeen has also been at KETK for a little while in the mornings. He started back on weekends and was moved to the mornings when Deana Snow and that other guy left. I will say CBS 19 has grown a little bit...they are way different from when they started last year. However, they still get 0's and 1's in the ratings book for their newscasts.

...and as much as I'm ususally for the underdog, it will take some time before KYTX will pull numbers against the more-established KETK and the heritage powerhouse KLTV.

Speaking of Bob Brackeen, I'm glad he got back into TV after that serious automobile accident he was in a few years back. I enjoyed his on-air work.
(still do when I'm up early enough to watch the early AM news)

One thing's for sure. Tyler-Longview MSA had three viable choices for local TV news. For a market that size, I'd say that's pretty good.
______________

I must have been really tired to get Bryan Houston's name wrong. Where the hell did I get Brian Roberts? I must have been watching something on TV, while I was typing and that's why that happened I'm sure. I do that from time to time.

To my understanding, when Bryan Houston took that job at KLTV, that's all he wanted to do anyway. Simply, because he was working full-time for his Church or something like that.

Is Clint still doing the 6pm or is Joe Terrell doing all three evening newscasts?
______________

It would have been nice to have had choices back in the day, pre-1984, without having to find a taller antenna or move into town and sign up for the cable. No matter the quality or the ratings, I'm still amazed there's 3 different full-time newscasts now.

I know.

BTW...CBS19 kicks off a 5PM newscast next Monday, 9/12/05.
______________

IIRC, Bryan was working at Pine Cove Christian Camp & Conference Center just outside of Tyler. I think he was their PR Director.

Joe's doing 5 and 10 PM. Clint's doing 6 PM.
______________

Not sure what's with Yeatts occasionally doing the early AM news. This change up has been happening off and on for a couple of months or more. Was up early, early one morning and turned on KLTV at 6 AM and there he was. Thought my TIVO had gone berserk.
