Ethel and Lucy

Ethel and Lucy have never sounded so bad these past few weeks, what is going on? Ethel is now playing a ton of nu metal and repetitive cuts from STP, Nirvana...sort of reminds me of NYC K-Rock circa 1999, and Lucy is adding in more nu metal as well! All of this belongs on Squizz!!

Ethel should be pure 90's and today Alternative w/ a focus on Indie and deep cuts!
Lucy should be Alternative w/o the cheesy nu metal...leave all of that to Squizz!

I (I don't know about anyone else) bought XM for all of the rock stations. Yes, there is XMU, and XM Cafe.... but I crave a "true alternative" mix between KROQ and Indie 103 and as of right now i'm not getting it.... If i don't see a change i'm taking my $$$ to Sirius... does anyone else agree with me here?

Maybe it's a pre-cursor of the new channels to come. In 2 weeks, your going to receive a 90's and now channel, whether it's going to be deep cuts or a hits channel, or both, that's why you maybe seeing a shift in stations like Ethel.

I'd wait till after April 17th.

I agree. When I heard Nickleback's "Photograph" on Lucy, I wanted to throw my SkyFi out the window.

There has been a definite shift in both stations. But lets see what April 17th brings....

Also, for the love of god, stop with the Fall Out Boy. Leave that to MIX and KISS.

I hate to say it but I've been thinking the same thing. They sound just like the local station in my town. They dont play commercials but they play a million promo's for all the stupid crap on xm i would never listen to like gretchen wilson.

I have noticed Ethel playing Linkin Park for the first time, and Lucy playing a few more currents, but haven't noticed a huge difference otherwise. Sirius's Alt Nation is still much worse for repetitiveness.

The reason I liked XM was that their Rock channels went very deep! So Sirius Alt Nation and their rock channels are just as repetitive? Let me know cause if this is the future of Satellite Radio.....i'll throw mine out the door...

Sirius's "Alt Nation" may be much more repetitive or "hit" based, but they do do a true alternative format. They keep "Alt Nation" focused on alternative while all of the Active Rock type artists mentioned above are kept on "Octane".

I preferred Lucy's previous focus on Alternative hits, which used to be everything from 70's Bowie thru the 90's. Now, you hear a lot less pre-grunge era hits.

I agree that Ethel should lose much of the nu-metal, that's what Squizz, and soon Liquid Metal are for.

But, by all means, leave Fred as it is (deep classic alternative). Much better than Sirius' First Wave, which sounds like a cheesy 80's compilation disc on repeat.

Overall, even with the faults, Sirius can't touch XM for Alternative Rock (and for most genres of music). Let's hope it stays that way.
