Ethel Hubbel Passes

Ethel Hubbel the wife of former WENE-GM Andy Hubbel passed away this week. Andy was the long-time GM at WENE during it's famous Top-40 days. While Andy worked at the WENE Radio Center studios on Main Street in Endicott, his wife worked just 2 blocks away as the office manager at U-E high school. If you ever had the opportunity to have to go to the U-E principal's "Woodshed" you got to meet Mrs. Hubbel who had absolutely no sympathy for you being there! I'm sure there are many former WENE staffers who remember Andy & Ethel.
Andy died in 1997.
 
Sad news. The list of the members of WENE's Top 40 era contnues to get smaller; Johnny Cheslo, Bob Malesky, Sherwood, Andy and Ethel Hubbel......
