EV RE20 Mic Processor

I'm interested in recommendations for a suitable low to medium cost mic processor for the RE20 for a small local FM station build we're working on.

Is there something available, possibly used at under $250.00 worth consideration?

I use a 286S in my home studio... With a little careful tweaking, you would be hard pressed to tell the home breaks from the work I do with the 1,000 dollar Aphex box here at work.

I highly recommend the 286S.
 
Add me to the list of DBX286 fans. I've built more than one studio and specified them. They sound great regardless of what the price says they should sound like.
 
I use the 286's a lot. I like them with the Heil PR-40. But use them with other mics as well.
Anyone notice the last (clockwise maximum gain) detent on the preamp level control raises the
volumn a good bit more than the other clicks? A big jump in gain on that last click.
Best bang for the buck.
 
Add me to the list of fans for a 286 in front of an RE20. Of course, it should sound good because it was designed by Bob Orban when Orban and dbx shared resources, IIRC...
 
I've always been a bigger fan of the Shure SM5 without a processor but I know the "sound" of a mic is very subjective. I didn't know that Bob Orban designed the RE20. Thanks for the education.

Pretty sure Bob designed the DBX286, not the RE20.
