\, I feel that EVA 95.5 is more Urban AC oriented (and may probably attract more African Americans) than Mega 104.3, which is more hispanic oriented -KDM 7000.

Although, KAJM is geared to attract hispanics I think KYOT is geared to attract hispanics & whites. I think KAJM attracts more African- Americans based on their deeper soul playlist. KYOT plays mostly disco that is geared to a time when music was not as ethnic. I don't consider disco to be soul; It is like techno(I'm exaggerating) , once you heard one song you heard them all. Basically, disco was more cultrally diverse, therefore it appealed to alot of people. I on the other hand, like solid soul. Also, I don't understand how one can play urban ac music and say it appeals to one ethnic group. I think you either play urban AC music or you don't. Urban AC is the only format where they try to pick it apart to find out what songs a certain group of people want to hear. I think if you like some urban AC songs, then you will like most of them. This is just like rock, latin music, etc. For example, you don't have rocks stations saying ..em...lets try to play only those rock songs that appeal to hispanics...NO .. they just play rock. Urban AC SHOULD be the same.
To be honest, I really can't tell which station is more urban ac oriented. I never actually really researched or explored deeply into the situation and my hypothesis was based purely on a little bit of KYOT listening I did a few months ago (before I went to Tucson!).
As far as Urban AC's appealing to a certain group and not doing what they "should" do, that's just the way it is. Urban formats pretty much do the same, depending on location. For example; I'm sure if there were a (current music) urban format in AZ, they'd play Eminem. None of the four Atlanta urbans have any Eminem in rotation (and yes, you are seeing correctly - I said four!). However, one of the urbans does do what you suggested and tries to just play the music without always appealing to any particular group of urban listeners (to a degree) and they've been #1 in ratings nonstop for over two decades! That station is WVEE (which is known to occasionally put things like Adele or Katy Perry in regular rotation and play "unusual" old school hits with some light rock during mix shows and even some "Careless whisper" and similar things during The Quiet Storm slowjams show at night). They even put "Like a G6" by Far East Movement in regular rotation for a few weeks!
I do wonder how a station like KAJM or KYOT would make out in Atlanta or nearby areas, playing Carlos Santana, Eurythmics, Madonna, Vannity 6, Robin S, Expose, and things of that nature in regular rotation.
By the way, I think you're right about KAJM being more urban ac oriented (I just checked and compared the playlists as I was writing this). It seems as if the main KAJM playlist has been "fixed up" a little and has more focus than it used to. However, I'm sure it will not satisfy many eastcoasters, who I normally hear complaining about how there isn't enough "black urban music" on west coast stations, or like the young lady (who's house I was staying at in Tucson) said,
"the stations here be like throwin in too much weird off the wall stuff - I'd be like jammin out to some Jay-Z or something then next thing you know there's like some spanish song and I don't wanna be hearin no spanish...". I tend to like the variety (which explains my love for the type of formats I've bragged about here over the past few years), but I also know my style of radio listening is extremely "out of the ordinary" (as most of you have already detected).
Btw, playing Elvis Crespo's "suavemente" with urban ac material surely would not fly in certain regions...
