EVA 95.5

I feel Eva will eventually morph into Urban AC more. It can be done in Phoenix.

There's a difference between "can be done in Phoenix" and "can be done successfully in Phoenix."

I am doubtful that Urban AC can be done successfully in Phoenix, and I'm just about damned sure that CC has no intention of doing it one way or another.

I mean, maybe some upstart company could drag an Urban AC up from the dregs of the ratings pool and make it a viable station in this market, but it is absurd to expect Clear Channel to accomplish such a task. That would entail a whole lot of swimming upstream - something CC is not exactly known for.

If you look at the total PPM's for the country urban ac is one of the highest ranking formats. This tells me the format has the ability to transcend racial & ethnic lines. Even more than some give it credit for. One of the main reasons I think it hasn't been viable in Phoenix has to do with a BAD SIGNAL.

Also, you have to have a PD who is committed to the format and is not just there for window dressing. It is possible for an Urban AC format to succeed in Phoenix, you just have to know what is going to work for the market in terms of music, promotion, how many songs to play per hour, etc. They have to know what works on an Urban AC in Atlanta, Houston, Chicago or Philly, doesn't work in PHX.

ASUGEORGE 1 is correct, The Goldmine Name does fit better with an oldies station, then our KVIT Top 40, The deal was struck with Goldfield Ghost Town in 1999 to use that name, with original plans of 125 watts, and serving mostly just AJ. Since we were using his existing tower and space in a building for a transmitter, he gave us a smoking deal...hence the Legal ID KVIT-Apache Junction, Goldfield Ghosttown, Arizona. When it comes down to it, You could pick any stupid name and if this listeners like the station, they will listen. Like, Tree, Left Shoe, or EVA.
