I put on WCBS FM a minute ago and Evanescence is on.The mish-mashing of NY formats continues I guess.

same with K Rock(alternative mixed with hair metal mixed with 80's pop mixed with classic rock ),WPLJ(just a confused mess) and WNEW.Mish Mash Radio.

what audience are they trying to get with this format?Who likes Matchbox 20 and the Beach Boys?

Well, first of all, I like Matchbox 20 and the Beach Boys. But, I am very upset over the lost of CBS FM, even if they weren't sounding their best. It was a legendary radio station. It is odd to hear music from Matchbox, Green Day, or the Black Eyed Peas on 101.1. I will admit, that it is a fresh format and sound, but why coudn't it be on 102.7 or 92.3? I know that Jack won't be on 101.1 as long as oldies was.
______________

Here's Why

Here's why:

All Infinity stations needed attention.

While KRock & WNEW may need to do something, it was probably better to put Jack on 101; The oldies format as we know it has been endangered. CBSFM was great at making me feel like I was 20-30 years younger - but even that changed. As I have read the comments on how everybody feels about blowing up CBSFM, and how it was the wrong station - I become more convinced the right thing was done. Its time was up. There was no where else you could really go with the format. Can you see Z100 jocks from the 80's on CBSFM, playing 80's music? That would be a tough transition. So, as WNEW(AM), WQEW and JukeBox Radio have gone away, so will the oldies format as we now know it.

The new format that replaces 'oldies', or if you even want to call it the new oldies format, is Jack.

OK, The 101 problem is addressed.

The best time to do something with KRock is when Howard is done. After all, its about the money, and they want to get every penny out of Howard they can. I do not have any thoughts right this moment on WNEW. Time for my morning coffee!

And if you want my predictions on what may happen on 92.3 next year, read this post below.
______________
