Evanov to expand the "Energy"...

I'd like to know what 103.5 has done to provide local radio service in Orangeville, which is (barely) part of the GTA. Last time I listened to the station, it was all Toronto, Toronto, Toronto.

Somehow the CRTC is allowing them to get away with not serving Orangeville.
They are operating as a Toronto station YET Rogers and Virgin are ALSO doing noting about this.
They should, since it would force one less top 40 in Toronto to compete with.
(ie more ads on Z103 for Orangeville businesses instead!)

I've driven by the Evanov studios in Toronto, on Dundas West across from the Kipling GO station. All three of the stations housed there are not licensed to Toronto: the aforementioned CIDC (Z103.5 Orangeville), CKDX (Jewel 88.5 Newmarket), and CIAO (AM530 Brampton).

I believe that in technicality these stations can get away with targeting the Toronto audience because Orangeville, Newmarket, and Brampton are all technically part of the Toronto Census Metropolitan Area (CMA). It's likely the same reason the original station serving St. Thomas (103.1), which is part of the London CMA, gets away with targeting London almost exclusively.

Despite a very low market share - it only garnered a 0.8 share in the last ratings book - CIDC will retain its Z103.5 branding. However, the same cannot be said for Halifax clone CKHZ Z103. They rebranded as Energy 103.5 at 1:03 PM AST today (January 6th). Below is an extended clip of the change.

I guess we can now say that the mystery of the Evanov Zs is now solved.

0.8? Not.

 Will people please kindly stop mixing up CIDC with sister station CKDX.
CIDC rotates between a 2.5 and a 4 share from book to book in Toronto.

CKDX tends to show up between a .8 and a 1.4 but their signal in Toronto is not very good.
They deserve benefit of the doubt.
