Evansville's first radio station broadcasting in HD?

Is it true? Is WPSR 90.7 on the air with their HD signal?

I'm suprised, given the fact their owners, the Vanderburgh School District have likely been cutting budgets as most school districts have, one wonders just where they got the 175k plus any royalties they have to pay to Ibiquity to even do this. Wonder if they have a HD-2 planned. Thoughts?

To the best of my knowledge, non-commercial stations don't have to pay royalties.

(they do have to buy the equipment though)

I understand the station was able to secure a very large grant. The contract engineer was told "build us a radio station" and he did. I've been told it's a very nice facility.

The EVSC just completed a multi-million dollar Tech Facility to replace the old TA school at North High and replace Ag at Reitz and Radio-TV at Central... It was put into the budget to 'hi-tech' the facility through grants and now WPSR runs 24/7 during the school year.. It used to run 7:30am to 2:45pm Monday thru Friday during the school year, prior to last year... The tower is still a short stick at Central High (about four miles west of the new facility).....They would like to see about a new tower site in the next generation with lower ERP and taller HAAT...Also, when they were first on at the McCutchenville School location and then moved to Central several years ago, the Horizontal only pattern was kept... They would apply for H & V in the next set up...

What about WNIN-FM and WUEV? WUSI? The Regent or SC stations(yes WEOA is included)?

Are they talking about HD yet or is still a ways off?

I suspect WNIN will eventually go with HD on FM (TV has already)... I would give South Central the 'more interested party' of the two majors here... Don't be suprised if little WBNL-AM (one of Indiana's most listened to 'streamed' stations) in Boonville gets some IBOC stuff... It seems owner Ralph Turpin has a link with Kahn and his FCC experimental version of HD.... We'll see....
