Even MORE on 79

So after a couple of days, I think they are getting better. John Hoffman fits in nicely in the mornings but Jeez...I could have gotten a new sat receiver flown in by now. They have GOT to get rid of the satellite audio issues, and please get the jock call drops working. They seem to be handling the net breaks a bit better but there are still rough spots. The last time I engineerd a sat format was Unistar oldies in 1988. It worked flawlessly even back then.

Its a shame they haven't resolved their satt. issues. Hey, good engineers are hard to find. I've had ONE good one in 30 years. I'm a bit impressed with the website, which is online now. Hopefully after a full week, they will have things worked out. However, it STILL should have been ready to launch. OR maybe I'm just too old school.

i dont disagree at all even if it wasnt whats it take to throw a drive in with a couple hundred mp3 and do some stunting

I believe what happened was a rush to get the format on-the-air because maybe they were afraid someone else was going to do it. Who knows. I am just trying to think of a logical excuse as to why it was handled this way. Mom and Pop radio in Podunk Nowhere operates better than this.

Again, this whole fiasco sheds real light on where the problems are in that building, but no one is willing to do anything about it.

That may well be. It wouldn't be the first time. As I posted earlier, I think CBS would have been quite happy if the news hadn't leaked out before the flip. I do find it interesting they didn't list Dennis as the morning show on the Web page.

All in all, they are improving steadily except for the audio. I know when I was there in the 90s we had some trouble with one of the satellite receivers burping like that. They CAN"T be using the same gear? It sounds to me like it is only on the satellite, but another possibility is that there is some sort of odd signal in the satellite audio that's overdriving something else along the line...but my money's still on the sat receiver. Does anyone know of another station running the same service? Are they having problems?

But apparently it's contagious. WREC was having audio problems with Rush today...both satellite audio and when someone left the feed of Herenton's news conference up over the Rush show for about 5 minutes.

I didn't notice any problems with Rush in the 1 pm hour today (Friday). It sounded like WMC was tracking their on music this morning (11 am hour), as the audio dropouts were missing, but there were no jocks; just an occasional liner and going straight from music into a stopset with no talk whatsoever.

Good luck to them.

You guys all have me at a disadvantage, having heard it for yourselves. Assuming that it's all satellite even in morning drive after reading all your comments, I have to wonder what the $#@! is up at CBS Radio that they can't even put a live morning show on. This is major market, what on Earth are they thinking? Surely this has to be one of those NYC 'suit' decisions, right? Same company that blew up WCBS-FM.

I'm sure Y&E over at Kix are having a really fun time with this on the air.

Between this, Entercom's Buzz fiasco and the illustrious studios on Mt. Moriah what the hell is wrong with radio these days that none of the corporate mucky-mucks care enough to take pride in putting on a quality program? yep... preaching to the choir but it ain't no better up here... Boston radio sounds second rate these days now too. In fact, in Springfield, I heard a jock on Classic Rocker WAQY stumble all over his words yesterday... couldn't even spit out a freaking liner. Hartford/Springfield is market # what? My point is, mediocrity is everywhere guys. Pisses me off to no end.

That's my rant for the month.

Everyone have a nice week!<P ID="signature">______________

For what it's worth, the satt. probs were still there tonight when 790 ended its Tigers broadcast and returned to music. Then at 5 pm WMC dropped the music and aired a paid sportstalk show. It's the craziest thing I have ever heard in a market this size.

Re: Even MORE ABOUT INFINITY RADIO

> > Well, ......if you consider 2 of the most important people at Infinity are gone. Mel Karmazin and Howard Stern(umm ok), Plus the "exit" of Shane Coppola, whats left really. A bunch of suits running nothing. Just look at the stock. 16.50 a share? Compared to 33 about 2 years ago. This new guy Peter Kossan. Well, we will see.

You mean they have LIVE JOCKS? Or has it gotten so no one even bothers to correct muffed voice tracks nowdays?

As of this very second the audio is fixed. I hope I don't jinx it by saying that.

Maybe they're one step ahead, and they put those muffs in there on purpose to make us THINK they're live...Hmmmmm?
