Even WNSH-AM's Website Reflects Changes

After a few quixotic changes (replacing its entire morning schedule), WNSH-AM 1570 in Beverly seems to have made its switch from English-language to Spanish-language broadcasting official: the station's website, http://www.wnsh.com now reflects these changes, although without identifying the source of the Spanish-language programming, WNNW-800 AM/W221CH 92.1 FM in Lawrence.

Brokered again, not sure for how long. There is a big Hispanic audience on the North Shore.
Today a quick trip to see the view from High Rock in Lynn and some locals were chanting
prayers in Spanish (gloria de Dios, santo, santo, etc.) And NSH's 30kW signal may surprise
you by day

Good daytime signal throughout essentially all of Essex County, Cape Cod, and most of the South Shore. Very poor signal northwest of Boston--for example in Arlington Heights, Lexington, and Waltham. If the format is Spanish religion, the combination of 1570 and 1150 pretty much covers the market (by day, anyhow). And yes, I realize that 1570 is not simulcasting 1150.

Hi Laurence,
I wonder why WNSH did this?????? I listened to their station every day. As a matter of fact Dr. Joy Browne was my favorite's from 1-3 in the afternoon. Someone better tell Dr. Joy that they no longer carry her talk show. If you go on her web site you can search for stations that broadcast her daily show, punch in Massachusetts, and WNSH is still there!!!! If I remember correctly Jack White and the crew did this once b-4. Oh well.....Hope they go back real soon...Nancy

Well, according to NERW's Year In Review, they are expecting to be sold to Costa-Eagle in 2011.

I wonder what "Jack" will do once the spanish people tell him they've run out of money? Probably just flip back to the conservatalk, I suppose... :D

But it seems everytime he bends down to pick a $10 bill up off the floor, a $20 note is falling out of his back pocket... ::)

Fybush confirmed today on NERW that Keating Willcox is selling NSH to Costa-Eagle for $400,000.
For now WNSH website (very bare bones) says they are running Spanish but still (Keating) retain control;
that will change. And until today I never knew there was a http://www.1570wnsh.com site
which gives the old talk lineup, etc. --not sure if Jack White or "Scott Channell--Finding Business"
or someone put it up--a WHOIS search does not provide the info

Of course as I mentioned above the Power 1570 AM logo appears on the site for the 3 stations
carrying it (800, 92.1 and now 1570)

I was mentioning the sale on boston-radio-interest and also a webcast Keating is doing with
Christmas/Christian music and Keating replied:

>>yes, I am now broadcasting an Internet Radio station Boston North Shore, and we feature Christian music on Sundays. Best wishes to Costa broadcasting, and I hope they keep WNSH going for many more years.

I've read that the guys running WXEX-AM 1540 in exeter, NH were actually making money with that dreadful frequency. In winter, AM 1540 in the Albany, NY area seems to ride over their signal all day where I live. They should have bought WNSH and moved WXEX to 1570 with a power close to 30K. Their tower isn't all that efficient, but it's better than WNSH's, so a full 30K might be a bit much. (They might even be able to operate at night and be heard in nearly all of the area inside the Exeter city limits.

2:30 am and no sign of WNSH on air, a mile from their xmtr. Getting CFAV Laval QC oldies, I think

I believe that what was CFAV has new calls now, but I can't remember what they are. And since Canadian rules require that the calls be mentioned only once every 24 hours, IIRC, you are unlikely to be listening when they are mentioned--probably sometime in the middle of the night.

'Yes I was going by radio-locator. Typing "am 1570 Montreal" into Yahoo got me a page saying it's now
CJLV (the LV coming from COL Laval). "Classic hits" English and French with 10kW (CKLM had been 50 kW)

No IDs or ads when I heard them...WNSH is back now.
