Ever gonna replace Al and Duncan-WSIX Mornings?

Back in December, when Al and Duncan were let go, WSIX said they were looking for a new morning personality to join the team. I wonder if they have now decided to just keep it the way it is. Has anyone heard anything?

Nevermind...it was announced that they hired Katie Bright who appearently did mornings on WAXX in Eau Claire, WI, but she was based out of Nashville. Her cohost was in WI. Anyone know how that worked?

It looks like that was announced this afternoon. She's still up on the web page for the WAXX Morning Show, for now at least: http://www.todayswaxx1045.com/georgeandkatieinthemorning.aspx

It was interesting to listen yesterday/Wednesday as one of the temporary news hosts apparently didn't show, and they went without news. It definitely sounded like Gerry was stretched a little thin, but they pulled it off. I've wondered how they would do if they cut/reduced news content and replaced it with music and/or more of Gerry & Mike.

Gerry & Mike love their newsbreaks... you would too.

Katie starts April 1.

April 1, hmmmmm This isn't another one of those "KDF is going country on 4/1", is it? We all got a big laugh out of that one!

Katie was in Nashville and was on the morning show with her co-host who was in WI. I've never heard of this concept before. Two people in different locations...one morning show. How did they swing that?

Honestly, it's happening more. The key to a great morning team is chemistry. Why uproot someone and take on that expense when you can phone it in. How many morning team pairings have you seen that "didn't work out" and somebody is out of a job in a city they now hate.
You know the feeling of being on the phone with someone you "connect with" and you don't think about the fact the other person is out of town.
I've watched Neil Boortz do his show from his home in Naples while his side kicks are back in Atlanta. He has a internet camera set up so he watches them and they him...the sidekicks are in different rooms anyway taking calls on a normal day when together.
It's the same concept as when a CC dj sits in one city and v/t's 8 other markets during his/her shift.
You go to weather.com get the forecast and temp, read their contest liners and do your song talk ups and download the file.
It sound very mechanical but a good talent can make it sound real. The challenge is finding good talent.

Which one is no longer in Nashville and where are they located now? I know that both Michael DelGiorno and Gwen Freeman have made many personal appearances together in Nashville and on WWTN remotes. So which one is no longer here?

it's pretty simple, actually..ISDN and a webcam. Kevin and Bean at KROQ have done this
successfully for years: Kevin's at CBS on Wlshire in LA, while Bean's at home near Seattle.

Funny part of the story is that her co-host at WAXX was George House. So she went from one "house" to another. Hahaha

The truth is that she comes from a multi-award winning station and morning show, and goes to a multi-award winning station and morning show. It's a great hire for Nashville.

Big A ~ They could call it the "House of Cards" . Talk about stacking the deck.

When the morning co-host are in two different cities, do you think that it's a negative that the co-host that is in a different city than the station won't have that local connection with the audience?

not at all...doesn't matter much if your studio is in the city...or a thousand miles away: you can connect if you work at it

Heck I've seen two people in the same studio looking right at each other who don't seem to connect.
Radio teams are like a marriage. You might have a contract but you still gotta work at it.
