Correct me if I am wrong, but I seem to recall that the AM stick for WPNS was originally located behind the studio, but there's no tower there now. Another website points to 1470 being at another location that says "WTII" which I recall was one of the FM's in Evergreen, but I don't see a tower there either. Help me connect the dots here. Was the original 1470 stick destroyed in a storm?
 
It's been off since at least March, possibly even longer than that, so it doesn't surprise me if the tower magically disappeared one day. The last time a Street View car was through there was 2011, and the tower was still up by the patch of land it was on was way overgrown. A Street View image from 2007 shows two towers at the site, but equally poorly maintained.
 
the am tower is there it is back on the southwest corner of the property it is for sale if you are intrested in buying the station it can be had

While this could be a good "first station" for an aspiring owner, I have heard some stories. I understand that the biggest FM competitor is a local businessman with a "J.R. Ewing" type of personality, and not too friendly to competition. Are there still preachers / ministers willing to buy time on AM stations in the deep south? A station owner in KY recently told me that K-Love / Air 1, and shifting demographics has changed all that.

Wilkins Radio seems to be doing OK with brokered religious programming on their AM stations in the South. We have a local AM daytimer that does brokered religious programs in the mornings and bluegrass music in the afternoons. Most mom and pop stations still have Sunday morning live services from the local church(es). K-Love / Air1 has a completely different demographic from the brokered religious stations - I can't see how they would have any impact on the preachers / ministers that buy time. You are correct that the demographics are shifting - as in getting older.

Believe half of everything you've heard or and most of what you may search and read (documented by journalism and legal proceedings).

(1470 used to be the current mayor's station, not so coincidentally.)
