you are right and if cat is there like i heard. it will only get worse...oh well back to my xm radio ;D

My source at Entercom told me this--they hired her mostly as a "psy-ops" move, to mess with CC and get info from her. My friend was bummed about the decision, but went on to say that Entercom does not tolerate the type of antics and behavior that CC is notorious for. She'll be given a chance, but if she can't cut it quick, she's gone. Entercom may have some issues that need addressing and some staff that need to be shown the door, but they are a better company than CC, but that's not saying much.

Emarti..like your idea on the psyc-ops.... Bayou is actually all air talent basically kicked off of other radio stations in the areaWalton and Johnson - gone from WCKW (they left) and WRNO (got booted)Kat - about ready to get the heave ho from WRNO (format change)Bender - Former moring guy at KOOJ rock 93.7 (I think some actions got him "removed".. he was part of the Condon and Bender show then all of a sudden gone)No Bayou adds in a lot of the classic hit material to the same WRNO formula (actually they have added more WRNO formula since the announcement) but supposedly being a mainstream that ends it in 2003?yep.. only rock station in town and can't get them to even play the new material of groups they already play...Emarti- tell your freiends that since they no longer have Rock music competition (unless you count signals from outside the area or that train wreck on 106.7) add some new music.. I know 106.3 KXOR in Thibodaux/Houma has and has been promoting the station extemely heavy in the area (plus most of the listeners are still there)I'm definitely glad I can catch radio from Red stick,Lafayette, and here on the Bayou cause NOLA radio hasn't impressed me since the early 90sRFLA

come to think of it wckw wasnt even that good after the sawitch to rock 92.3 from classic rock 92.3..rno has been dead since 1991. last good station in new orleans was 1061 the zephyr. yes i actually listened to it even though i was a metalhead. ;D

Everything that rocks...please! Another positioning liner Ms. Kaplan dreamed up without changing the music. FYI friends and neighbors, Cat is an employee of Entercom. Will it last? It'll only be a matter of time before the ladies clash and show their claws. A cat fight brewing? (no pun intended) It's Ms. Kaplan's litter box.RNO won't change before Bob Christopher has the entire staff in place and Hanity is it for right now. It's fun watching Entercom and CC trying to give each other golden showers. Great minds at work...step back folks.

everything that rocks.... whatta joke indeed! i tried to listen (one more time) again Friday, but had to change the channel after about 10 minutes because of the same 'ol, same 'ol crapola rno is playing, dj chatter, and horrible voice-overs by (what sounds like a poor man). who is that voice?? as far as bender is concerned, i wouldn't doubt he got canned from kooj........... like i mentioned before in a previous topic, he's one of those characters that like to nag everyone about useless celebrity news he finds on the internet. being a mr, ms or mrs (whatever)...... kaplan seems like one of those pd's that like their jocks to be "topic-oriented." been there, done that. ".......... it's so entertaining!" NOT! the jocks on bayou and b97 are all like that. i don't listen anymore. lol whatta waste......... i know people who've worked for kaplan before..... here and abroad. i understand he likes to be in control all day, everyday. is this really true??? i hear if he don't get his way, he finds reasons to give you the axe. kat....... it's just a matter of time, sugar. i do wish you the best of luck!sawtooth

Here we go again...You boys just can't WAIT to pick on a girl. Really tough guys eh? Does it make you feel more masculine to insult the only real female personality in the city? Or call the guy in a position you'll obviously never have 'queer' and 'ms' ? Lemme guess, I bet you boys all drive giant trucks with hemmis or super fast little sports cars to show just how manly you all are. You people will critize ANYTHING. No one can do anything right in this market and while I don't agree with the recent format flips, I respect the on-air's. Why don't you give Kat more than a week before you cut her throat? Why not give Caplan a chance to revamp once RNO flips? The Bayou has the daunting task of being the only rock station in the market once RNO flips, why not try and support local rock stations if you all love it so much? No, you'd much rather bitch and whine how much better YOU could do it and if they flip Bayou and we're left with no rock stations, you'll bitch and whine about that too. There is just no pleasing you people. You ridicule and mock and aim to hurt. I don't expect anything to change, nor do I expect any of you to do anything other than read this and call me a bitch. I don't care either way, it's obvious that you're threatened by strong women, especially those in the industry and even moreso, by the successful ones. I may not qualify for anything more than the first part, and maybe I never will, but it's more than I can say for you lot. Wallow in your misery, enjoy your angst and go listen to your emo rock. And just for you thick headed readers-no I'm not Kat. She has her own name and profile. Yes I have posted here before, under my name and under Board Bitch. I thought the latter was more appropriate to how I'm to be perceived, but I'd much rather you all knew my name.

A masculine thing? Come on. You are reading what you want into these post and adding a sexist remark about what guys drive. Am I taking a shot at Kat, nope. She sounds good on the air. And from folks at CC, she's set in her beliefs. Unless she can put those aside, she'll be a short-timer at Entercom. I think she's a good additional to compliment Bender. I hope she can deal with ms Kaplan. Not only is Kaplan a control freak but a corporate suck-up. How or why he ended up at another Entercom market after he was run out of Kansas City is anybody's guess. Simply put, I hope Kat does succeed. Never met her but have listened at times. Kaplan, flat out rude and supercilious, period. He's had a chance to revamp Bayou for well over a year but now doesn't have any competition. And you think it's going to get better?Rock stations around the country are becoming few and far between. Their success is hampered by the coporate thinking of let's shove 300 songs down peoples throats. They don't take satellite radio seriously, especially Entercom. Listeners have more choices like burning their own cds, mp3 players & satellite. When cable first made it's appearance, who wanted to pay for television. The rabbit ears worked just fine. But look at the industy now. It's not the on air folks screwing up radio, it's the product they are force to present. The Allman Brothers had more than one song, other than Ramblin' Man, but you'd never know it listening to radio.Corporate radio is cutting off more body parts than just their noses. And they're to trapped in their own ego to see what's really going happen in the future and HD radio ain't the answer. I'd rather spend some money to listen what I like than being force-feed what their research shows. Calling you a bitch, I wouldn't go that far. I respect your opinion but don't have to agree with it.

Chance to revamp after RNO flips?! Why wait?!Kat has had well more than a week, several years at RNO. As for your rant about women and picking on girls--No one said that a woman shouldn't hold a job at Bayou. You also really don't know if us other posters are men or women--shame on your stereotype! That's your opinion about kat being the only real female personality in the city--she's not, and every other female personality in town could do a better job, and that's my opinion. It's also my opinion that kat's production work is poor, I don't like her on air style, voice or persona, and as music director of RNO she obviously doesn't have my respect for her lack of knowledge about music.Respect in radio is earned and not given to whoever can scream the loudest. :p :p :p

And my only comment from day one is Kaplan calls it a mainstream Rock station... Hello but every other mainstreamer I've heard DOESN'T stop at 2003 in their playlist. Only Bayou... I just brought up the other facts to highlight what some others were saying that Bayou was built on people who left from other stations, which is the facts sorry.Kaplan had a chance after KKND went off the air and even more after their flip to bring in new rock listeners to the fold but he didn't... after WRNO's eventual flip, possible same story..same rock day in day out... Nothing to write about anywhere's else on this forum.. Sorryand that's my rant on it.

btw the we are against women in radio thing is absurd! we all want tashaa to come home to the bayou!!

I read this every now and again, and very rarely post, but when I saw something posted about the afternoon suckfest, that is my show, well I had to put in my penny (all my thoughts re worth). I respect everyone's opinion of my show, but I can't let the big broadcast be miss rep'd. I don't know Sawtooth, and I'm not shure he knows me, or has ever listened to my show because he made the comment that I am (and I'm paraphrasing here) "one of those nagging jocks that bothers people with info about celebrities I found on the internet". First of all, Rayan Seacrest, I'm not, second, about all I use the internet for is porn. The comment was also made (one again with the para... thing) "Kaplan is in control of content and wants me to be one of those topicy type jocks", well Kaplan is in control, he's the boss, but as far as content, nobody dictates the content of my show, not even me. The only thing that "controls" my show is my life. I talk about real stuff that happens to me, it's called relating to your audience, and should those "topics" generate phone calls, well then I guess I've provided compelling enough material to make people call my show. Outside of the features (Deep Thoughts/Sports/Under The Covers/News That Rocks) I don't force some daily "hey give me a call" question or topic, if I noticed something, or have a thought on something, or had an event happen to me, then I talk about it. Has my show suffered since the storm, yes, but only from the stand point that I am unable to do certain features I did pre Katrina, simply because of a lack of staff, but hey we al lost something during that storm, hmmm.... there's a great topic question "What did you lose because of Katrina, call me now 260...." yeah I think I'll use that on my next show, it will compliment my "Celebrty Gossip" that I do all the time. Look my point is, love it or hate it, my show that is, I'm good with that, but at least turn it on before you go putting up some trash talk, it realy doesn't bother me, I just don't want you looking like you don't know what your talking about, help me help you brother. One last thing, someone else posted that Bayou 95.7 was made up of Radio Rejects that had been tossed by other stations. One, isn't everyone on the air a reject, and two, I was always told that if you've never been fired in radio, you're not doing anything, well I've recieved many one way tickets to the beach, so you do the math,,, wait there is no math to do, sorry. I would like to also point out, that if you go back and look, everytime I was blown out, I was at the top of the ratings in my demo, what's the old saying, "always go out on top" or is it "never let a fat chick on top" I'm not shure. From The Outside Looking InBender

Bender,You tha man!Truthfully, I would listen to the END everyday, all day at work and on the way to and from work. I really liked the personalities on the air but couldn't give a crap about the music they played. My wife thought I was nuts because I would lower the volume when songs would begin and turn it up when they would end.Sice they have changed formats, I listen to the MTW and do the same thing.I tune to your show in the evenings a few times a week. You are starting to grow on me. But one thing that will never grow on me is W&J. I just don't get them. Never did. If I wanted to hear someone do goofy voices and characters, I would much rather listen to Phil Hendrie. At least he's talented.Kat is sorta growing on me too. But it just may be me, but it seems like she's trying too hard to put on a "radio voice" which I don't really care for.As far as generating audience participation, or what I call "true two-way radio", go for it. You don't need a stupid call in question of the day. Just keep on doing what you are doing. To me, that's what makes it even more interesting. You have no idea where the show will go when you answer that call and put the caller on the air. Could go through the roof or you could not even play the taped conversation on the air.One thing that the out of town consultants don't get is that New Orleans is loyal to the on air personalities - radio and TV alike. If Angela Hill was to change her hair color, it would be the talk of the town with a full page write up in the Times Picayune by Chris Rose. Once people here get attatched, they tend to be very loyal. Listeners/viewers relate with these local celebrities and feel as though they are a part of their lives. Which they are. How many people showed up for the going away party for Howard Stern when he wasn't aire on 106.7 any longer? Exactly, there wasn't one. How many showed up for Rod Ryan's going away party? A boat load of people! Point is, we like our local celebrities. We bond with them. Not with the syndicated crap that we are force fed. The consultants that are brought in need to learn three things before they start making changes in New Orleans. 1. Their ideas won't work here like they do in other areas of the country.2. New Orleans is a unique city which doesn't welcome change with open arms.3. If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it.What CC is doing to WRNO will probably be the end of a legend. The call letters will fade into history.Well , that's my rant. And in case anyone was wondering, I chose my user name years ago on another board just to bust Rod's balls. Personally, I don't thing he sucks. Although his show on RNO that is fed to us does suck. Take away the local flavor and the local participation like they did, and it's no more of any interest to me -- which is why I don't listen.Seacrest...OUT!
