Where I go in the mountains in North Carolina each June, there is not a station playing the pop music I like. Part of the area is served by a classic country station at least during the day, but the signal is not ideal, and i think the station was off the air almost the entire time I was in the mountains last year.
But I remembered one station had a format I might have liked. I looked it up. The signal used to be much stronger, and I haven't had any luck with it during the day, but apparently at night (and in the summer, during the last few hours of daylight), when few people can hear it, and certainly not anyone in any area where I go, their web site says "everything from Glenn Miller to Steve Miller".
I don't know what purpose it could possibly serve to just play music at night. I'm not clear on what they do during the day because I couldn't tell from the descriptions of programming the rest of the day if there is even any music.
Glenn Miller, good. Steve Miller, not so good. In fact, not since 2006 (when the satellite format was dropped) has the station I now listened to played him unless it was on the local morning show and i haven't even heard him there, which is just as well.
