So Jeff Rollins admits it!

It makes me feel a lot better about the weird stuff he says. Including treating Carly Simon like a stalker.Now Sting admitted "Every Breath You Take" was a song about a stalker. Anyway, I could do without Carly Simon on my radio.

Hammondo, this is a minor problem. The majority of the music is great.
 
Chimp, for the most part, Jeff writes the script. I've been there. Why do ad-libs (even those that are written) down amuse you so? If you were in your 50's you'd be able to remember many radio greats who "ad'libbed" written down notes. It's how it's done in the big time.

I don't know.

I'd prefer not to have Jeff's brand of humor, really. I was unable to hear him more than once or twice a year for 10 years, after having heard him for an hour once a month for five years. Then last summer WFMX changed and I needed a new Paul Harvey station. Rather than take the risk of somehow messing up the clock radio in the kitchen by turning it off ... well, I now hear him for an hour three times a week.
 
One consultant who I will not name came out with a memo telling jocks to avoid the usual crtch phrases, you've heard them all before.....in addition he said that "He liked the jocks reading liners rather than ad-libbing. The jocks should think of themselves as actors delivering lines."

I'm sure he's a nice man making far more money than I do but all I could think was, God HELP US!
 
Jeff is taking antibiotics for an ear infection. He says he never had this particular side effect before. He starts talking about one thing, wanders off topic, and can't remember where he started. Oh, yeah, he never knew anyone named Peabo other than Bryson.

Riiiiight. Probably written ahead of time. :D
 
The Best scriped radio show I've ever heard was Wink Martindale on MOYL. Yeah it was voice tracked but he sure did a nice job. He told me not long ago he does not plan to get back into radio in the near future but does not rule it out. I miss the "Winker".
