Everytime We Touch ramblings

nd2023

Banned
I got good news and bad news.

First, the good news: I heard the dance version of Everytime We Touch in the morning on Philly's Wired 96.5, which is a hip-hop station.

And now, the bad news: I heard the boooooooooooooring slow version of Everytime We Touch on New York's "Dance" Music Follower, 103.5 KTU. It sounds as horrible as the boring version of Listen To Your Heart. (I got to listen to an interview with Cascada right after that song, so it wasn't all in vain) And wait...it gets even worse! About 30 minutes later, I'm listening to New York's Z100 and that boring song comes on. The boring version belongs on the AC station, not the CHR.

But there's good news after that. An hour later, I hear the dance version of Everytime We Touch on Philly's Q102. Let's hope Wired 96.5 keeps the dance version of Everytime We Touch, and play that song as much as they played Crazy Frog last summer.
______________

Wired is once again flirting with the idea of evolving into a CHR/Pop station. Aside from Cascada, they're also active on Pink's "Stupid Girls", and...James Blunt "You're Beautiful"! :)

No Way.. Wired 96.5 is playing James Blunt????? That has to stick out like a soar thumb on that station...... Cascada and Pink Belong on stations like this though,, So two Thumbs up for Wired in Philly....

There wasn't one for the single but the originator of the "Candlelight Mix" and one of Cascada's producers, Yanou, did it for the album. A lot of stations have been getting requests for it so some are giving it a shot. I think it will be one of those things where stations that are starting to show burn on the original will play this one a bit. Also the AC's have been given it via the Promo Only MPE system.

So with that covered and some of these Rhythmics coming onboard, we should be ok with this record for awhile.

Sad isn't it? You think they'd play the remixed version of Paul McCartney record? Too many macho white males who think that dance isn't mainstream enough but some thug speaking about hittin' it from behind is. Amazing how square and late they are to everything.

"White folks will never listen to that rap (BLEEP)"

Words spoken by a well known, reverred and respected PD now a big time consultant (and people wonder why I have little to no respect for former colleagues who were held in high regard in radio. It's nice to have a network of people in charge who are as out of touch as the next guy in control. They got each others back, sneer and chuckle at anything that doesn't fit in their boxed minds. They're not too visionary, very seldom have an original ideal and are usually three to five years late on where their target demos are/were) (usually, in general)

I can't stress enough how any of the indies need to emulate what you do there. Great ears, great promotion and SALES. Can't have a company without them. Keep up the good work.

actuly if you have time to check out their website, their positioner is now "where hit music lives", so I think they are trying to make it into mainstream chr
______________

Yes, Robbins does an excellent job from the top to the bottom and everywhere in between. Year in and year out, for the last few, they have been able to have 1 MAJOR Dance/CHR song at the top of the charts. It takes a group of extraordinary people to do that. It's nice to see that you can reap rewards from what you have sowed!
______________

Wild 97.9 in OKC uses the Hit Music Slogan as well, But they are still 99% Rhythmic, with only one or two spins a day for any POP-Rock or Dance product. Actually I dont think ive ever even heard WILD 97.9 play an actual Dance Record outside of Mixshow Spikes,, Which are also 99% Rhythmic....... So anyway my point is, I dont think the rhythmic playlist on Wired in Philly is going away completely, It will probably Turn Out sounding something like KQKI Detroit, and WSNX in Grand Rapids,or KZZP Phoenix, Which Technically are all Mainstream Chrs, but sound to most people like Rhythmic Chrs, and share most their audience with the local Rhythmic and Urban stations.

> Wild 97.9 in OKC uses the Hit Music Slogan as well,

And is one of the more Mainstream leaning Rhythmic CHRs in the country:
http://www.mmr247.com/mmrweb/AllAccess/Stations.asp?c_let=KKWD-FM

They too are playing Cascada and James Blunt.

As for Wired 96.5, they've definitely gone more Mainstream as they're playing Fallout Boy's "Dance Dance". As some of you might remember, Wired 96.5 was extremely supportive of "Sugar We're Goin Down". It even topped Wired's playlist for a couple of weeks. Then the new PD came in, and the station reverted back to its Hip Hop leaning Rhythmic status. It's now a couple of months down the road, and that same PD is giving Wired a new look and new more Mainstream sound.

Thanks guys. We appreciate your support.
